Here are Stephanie’s 3 simple steps to help you win the winter weight-gain war.

1. Layer or progress your moves with Stephanie’s Progressive Muscle-Memory Activation (PMA) Method this winter. Instead of layering or adding on pounds, try laying or progressing your moves with PMA training. All the muscles in your body will coordinate seamlessly and instinctively in perfect postural concert. Simply take any routine move, such as a runner’s lunge then, increase difficulty by adding up to 3 challenging variations. This will cause your body to work harder and smarter. The big benefit is that you get total body, maximal muscle adaptation (or VBody Shaping) for a tall, lean dancer’s shape in minimal time.

2. Check your stress. Keeping your stress levels in check prevents your body from pumping out extra cortisol. (It’s the survival hormone your adrenal gland pumps under stress causing fat to be stored mostly around your mid-section.) Try varying your workouts, and lowering your stress by taking a rejuvenating vinyasa yoga flow class or buy a yoga DVD to recharge your mind, body, and soul.

3. Begin your day with a healthy, balanced breakfast. Yes, breakfast is the MOST important meal of your day. Don’t skip meals or snacks, especially breakfast—you’ll actually activate your body’s starvation response and actually slow your metabolic rate! A healthy, balanced breakfast will give your body the right fuel to keep your energy soaring, keep your body functioning optimally, and burning calories most efficiently. Stephanie’s favorite breakfast: ¾ cup of steel-cut (not instant) oatmeal, 3 scrambled egg whites, and ½ cups of fresh or frozen blueberries.
