7 Organizations You Can Financially Support Right Now To Help The Gulf Coast Recover From the BP Oil Spill Crisis

Today on Monday June 21 from 8PM to 11PM EST on CNN, Larry King and The Nature Conservancy are hosting a live telethon with many celebrities (including our very own Deepak Chopra) to raise money for their 2-hour Gulf Coast Relief Telethon. RSVP on the Facebook event page for this live televised event here.

This week, we are inviting everyone in the Intent community to share intentions, write blog posts and engage in dialogue on what we can all do to clean up the BP Oil Spill–AND prevent similar environmental disasters from happening again.

Tonic.com posted a handy article listing organizations that are now accepting volunteers to do clean-up at the site of the environmental disaster along the Gulf coast. For the rest of us who may be constrained by time, money and geographical location and are unable to physically be there along the Gulf Coast to help do the clean-up, we can do the next best thing: donate money so that the organizations helping heal the wildlife along the Gulf Coast have the financial resources to keep doing their job for the weeks, months and even years to come.

The following organizations would greatly benefit from your monetary donation to continue their efforts cleaning up the BP oil spill and helping those most negatively impacted by this environmental disaster:

Donate: Organizations Helping Wildlife Affected By The Oil Spill

National Wildlife Federation Gulf Oil Spill Restoration Fund

Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research

Audubon Nature Institute

Donate: Organizations Helping People and Communities Affected By The Oil Spill

Greater New Orleans Foundation

Oxfam America

Catholic Charities

Seedco Financial

Can’t physically be at the site of the oil spill crisis but want to know what exactly is happening over there? To stay informed on real-time updates on the clean-up process, check out Gulf Coast Oil Spill Volunteers Facebook page.

About Yumi Sakugawa

I am a comic book artist and illustrator based in the greater Los Angeles area. My website can be found at: www.yumisakugawa.com. Every so often, I make illustrated guides to mindfulness and meditation. You can buy a booklet of them here: (http://yumisakugawa.bigcartel.com/product/there-is-no-right-way-to-meditate )     In a previous life, I was the online editorial producer of Intent.com. When I am not drawing and thinking of new stories, I am drinking ridiculous amounts of tea, craving Indian sweets and dreaming of the day when I will have my own King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.
