86-year-old Johanna Quaasisn’t doesn’t let her age stop her from doing anything. If you thought carthweels, back-handsprings, front flips, and lay-outs were out of the question for octogenarians… well, you ain’t seen nothing yet!
Last month, Quaas impressed a large crowd at the 2012 Cottbus World Cup in Germany with a floor and bar routine that most people 1/4 her age wouldn’t dream of tackling. She has won 11 medals in senior gymanstics competitions, though she told MSNBC that she currently practices gymnastics “just for fun.”
Maybe that’s because competition is hard to come by in the senior category! The only other athletes in her age group are in their mid-70s.
“I want to give the others a chance too. And to perform against 70-year-olds all the time is no fun after a while.”
