9 Ways To Make Your Life Conducive To Achieving Your Life Goals and Dreams

How is your life going these days? Do you feel that your life has a good momentum or do you feel that you are stuck in a rut? Getting the life you want sometimes is a matter of eliminating your negative influences (Debbie Downer friends, unnecessary life commitments, an unproductive living space) and increasing your positive life influences (inspiring friends, productive habits, inspiring volunteer opportunities.) Here are 9 tips to make your life more conducive to getting exactly what you want in life.

1. Surround yourself with people whose productivity, morals, life goals, passions, etc. are closely aligned with yours. Be careful with who you spend your time with–your closest friends and the people you spend the most time with are direct influencers of how much money you make, your work ethic and your general outlook on life. Be in close contact with hard-working, productive, passionate, caring people–you will be constantly inspired, and their positive energy will always rub off on yours. If you are surrounded by deadbeats or negative, flaky people who get nothing done, it will only drag you down.

2. Don’t put all your eggs on one basket– be working on multiple projects. Don’t count on a single road to success to get to where you want in life. Maybe you are not a famous yoga-instructor / author quite yet–but you are still rocking at giving volunteer yoga sessions to senior citizens in your area, and your yoga blog is slowly gaining momentum. By being available to the universe in multiple areas, your positive influence on others will spread and take you far.

3. Get in the habit of asking. Ask, ask, ask for everything! Whether it’s for a lower rate on your cable bill, a better window view at a restaurant or for a raise in your day job, getting in the habit of asking will take you to higher places.

4. Love your living space: make it inspiring and exciting. Your everyday environment is everything. Hate your neighborhood? Get out. Are your roommates’ negative energy ruining your inspiration? Get out. Need better lighting, less clutter, more inspiring artwork on the walls? Take the extra time to make your living space an inspiring space where things get done and amazing results are made.

5. Exercise and be healthy. In order to achieve your life goals, you need physical stamina to get through the day and mental clarity to put 110% of yourself into what you want. Exercising will keep your energy up and being healthy will keep you from getting tired or overworking yourself. (Getting sick = wasting time!)

6. Keep exposing your brain to new and exciting things. Your brain needs stimulation to work up those crazy creative ideas. Plan weekly adventures to new museum exhibitions, concerts, new coffee houses, new volunteer events where you don’t know anybody, social gatherings where you meet lots of new people, et cetera. Opportunities tend to spring up when you get out of your comfort zone and daily routine.

7.Work on your dream goals a little bit every single day–even if it’s only for five minutes. Want to write the next American novel? Work on it every single day–even if on some days it’s just one word or one sentence. Want to start your own business? Work on it every single day–even if on some days it’s just a five-minute phone call to somebody who might be your mentor. By having it a part of your daily routine, you will always be inching forward.

8. Volunteer with an organization or cause that you are passionate for. Being a part of a greater cause is a great way to meet other inspiring people and possibly give you opportunities to use your talent for something that will benefit the community. You may also find that you have a talent for something that you never knew existed!

9. Drop all voluntary time commitments that you don’t enthusiastically say YES to. Decrease your obligatory un-fun time commitments as much as possible. Such as: hanging out with acquaintances you feel obligated to hang out with just because you knew them in college but you have nothing in common with anymore. Or volunteering for a mini-event when you should be at home working on your personal projects. Unless it’s an absolute YES in your gut, it’s okay to say NO so you have more time for what’s truly important.
