The title of my most recent post on intent was “Drink Yourself Beautiful”, which included a major secret tip on skin care. It also included the possibility of drinking red wine for skin and overall health versus taking a pill that equals 1,000 glasses of red wine, minus the alcohol.
Your comments were colorful and fabulous!
I am still having my glass or two of wine as a thank you to my friends on Intent.com!
Today, I am going to share yet another secret, this time about growing older and cheating inexpensively and naturally.
I confess, that after some time I learned to add something else to my main and original secret of skin care… extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) : Ester C capsules.
The marble bowl I mentioned that sits by my sink is actually a mortar pestle. I simply empty one capsule of Ester C into the bowl along with the EVOO and grind, grind, grind. Unlike the $90 creams that are sold over the counter and with prescription, the ester C infuses with the oil and becomes an inexpensive miracle.
For an extra free beauty treatment, I scrape the bits of Ester C on the bottom of my mortar pestle that are moistened with oil and use them as a weekly scrub.
Even though I’ll be 46 this year, my face has never glowed as it does now.
I have never believed that we need to spend thousands or even hundreds of dollars on beauty treatments. I even remember putting oatmeal on my face for a mask as a teenager.
I have used yogurt, beer, mayonnaise, oatmeal, cider vinegar, and avocado in more recent concoctions, but the Ester C and olive oil has been my most dramatic topical treatment to date.
Cheers to us all and may we continue to glow on the inside and out!
Do you have a simple secret anti-aging tip?
We at Intent.com would love to hear!

Hi Lauren,
How often do you do this? And where can I get Ester C capsules? Thanks for all your great advice!
Lauren, this does sound wonderful (and economical). I love the image of you concocting beauty treatments in your bathroom. I second Yumi, where can we get Ester C?
Cheers Lauren! For sure you must be doing something right if your profile pic is current and you look that good…in a nice, warm, bubbly way at 46!
Great idea! What time of day do you use this? As a nighttime moisturizer after washing your face?
Hi Yumi! I use to apply the oil every evening and the scrub once or twice weekly…although it feels so good it is addictive! Sometimes now I even do it in the morning right after I wash my face before heading down to tea and reading the paper with my husband. By the time I am ready to get dressed I am ready for a little moisturizer…or not and some make-up…or not:)
You can get the capsules at your local grocery market or drug store!
XOXO

Hi Lauren,
I have to tell you that I tried the evoo the other night. I figured if it worked for you (and you look gorgeous) and Sophia, it must be great. It was just too oily for my skin. I didn't mind smelling like at Italian restaurant though.
I'm 51 and have been using sunscreen daily since I was 24. The combination of that and Retin-A has worked really well for me. Thanks for your tips!
Sweet Lauren,
I have been following the EVOO and it really does wonders. My skin looks great and I am not wearing any kind of makeup. Maybe because it is getting use to it…I have a pimple, like a teenager. LOL
Just a question… where can I get the Ester C capsules. Any pharmacy, like Walgreens or Save-On?
Any way, I am so glad about the wine. Salud, with your favorite red wine, for this beautiful woman!
Hugs
Adriana.
Hi Irene!
My skin much be drier than yours naturally! Wow. you were much smarter than I was at 24! Sunscreen is huge! Thank YOU for the tips! You look marvelous darling!

Dearest beautiful Adriana…
Any Local grocery market or drug store should carry ester vitamin c…in capsule form. It is much easier…just pull apart and empty into your EVO oil!
Salud!
Love and hugs,
Lauren
