Being the Change We Wish to See Tomorrow
When was the last time you really saw the world with fresh eyes? When was the last time you let the innocence inside you hold the reins? When was the last time you broke your routine to step outside your usual ways of being? I challenge you today to turn what you always thought, upside down. I challenge you to look at the world with the innocence of a child, to feel things for the first time, to taste what it feels like to see the things around you from an entirely different perspective. Drive a new way to work and find something you didn’t ever see before. Look at your co-worker as if it were the first time. Find their beauty and tell them what you see. Eat breakfast for dinner or dessert for lunch. Walk backwards down the stairs. Wave at something in the sky and see people follow your glance. Open your eyes in wonder and see afresh yourSelf in the mirror. What do you see? Write it down. Give someone you have never met, a compliment. See how they light up….either in shyness or in gratitude. Hum happy birthday on the bus, on the elevator, or in a crowd. Notice hidden smiles. Dare yourself to reach out to someone who needs you….whether it be a sad face on the sidewalk or a struggling soul behind a counter…see how kind the world suddenly becomes when you do so. Pick up a Fall leaf that looks extra pretty and put it in your pocket. Better yet, give it to someone as a gift.

Yes, precisely: see the world anew, through the eyes of a child; relinquishing control and following our whims and our bliss connects us with the deeper wisdom of the universe.
And it is at this very moment, at this critical juncture in History (of which tomorrow's election is one of many defining events), that it becomes more pressing than ever for us to awake, and step resolutely outside our comfort zones with a spirit of daring and adventure…
Something beckons us to take the chance and jump off the cliff of certitudes and into the wonderful sea of possibilities.
Beautifully said, dear Sebastien! Thank you!!! You make me want to get up and cheer!
What wonderful sentiments Brynne. I support your Intent to see the world anew tomorrow!
Brynne, this is beautiful. I feel hopeful and optimistic and am eager to vote tomorrow and know the next phase of our country and world (and, like Mallika, I'm really eager to hear world opinion if Obama wins).
This is so beautiful Brynne! We all need to take some time out and do that when the world is overwhelming us…and I hope tht tomorrow will bring a new sense of hope for all of us
Beautiful Brynne,
Thank you for all the wonderful innocence you've helped me remember.
brynne! i love this post. thanks for inspiring me and bringing out my inner child. i love the idea of giving a fall leaf as a gift. that's something a child would do, but most adults would dare not. is it because we've devalued the beauty of the natural world around us? or we've forgotten the best gifts are free? thanks again.
