Bodhisattvas

This speaks for itself and I can’t add to it. Plus the ‘Captcha’ was – "void deeply". Can’t argue with that :o ):

About zenmonk

Renegade Zen monk, meditation teacher, PA, web designer, computer engineer and IT guy, writer, mediocre poet, traveller and sometime dish washer, construction worker, teller of extraordinarily bad jokes. Mitch Robbins: Do us good? Didn't you guys see? The man was hanging the hired help! And, did you notice his eyes? He has crazy eyes. He's a lunatic! Zenmonk,

I actually feel that way sometimes; sometimes it takes a few olives.

zenmonk…what is the `getting stuck` zen story ..?. something about `when a fly gets stuck in the ointment…it really gets stuck in it` ~ implying with full intent. the you tube driver well realises the story`s first part but perhaps not the second … ?

  6. zenmonk October 31, 2009 at 10:19 pm #

In a sense the 'method' of Zen, as you probably are aware, is precisely to get us stuck. To get us to the point where we realize that nothing out there and out there includes our thoughts, strategies, beliefs, emotional convictions and rationalizations is going to 'do it' for us. That no technique or hope, or intellectual insight is going to wake us up, make us happy or solve the big questions. At that point we're well and truly stuck. In Koan study it's refered to as the 'silver mountain and the iron wall' and it's a vital step.

    See for yourself.

    Directly transcend the

    principles and activities

    of the buddhas and patriarchs.

Go through the forest of thorns.

    Transcend the barriers

    of potential described by

    ancestral teachers.

    Pass through the silver mountain and iron wall;

then for the first time you will realize

    there is a transcendent fundamental endowment;

    you can sit,

helping people solve their sticking points

    and untie their bonds.

    - Shoitsu

Zenmonk…calmness and wisdom resonates from you truly. Each day, i contemplate in appreciation all you say ~ it is like receiving darshan…on line real time. If more come to mind, they would be greatly appreciated.

i heard someone once say he thought to be a really good monk he had to beat himself up. Relating this view to a more senior monk came back the immediate response, Drop IT! …well, what about…? Drop IT!

    so i shall

Tell me the same thing when I've had a couple of beers and get the notion to start singing Karaoke. :o )

  9. beachgirl October 31, 2009 at 11:26 pm #

zenmonk…ok…Yes! but…do you really like to sing?

  10. mahabn November 1, 2009 at 1:41 am #

haha brilliant – gonna steal that for my FB page

  11. mahabn November 1, 2009 at 1:54 am #

@bob Ellal – you remind me of Hotei !!

I always thought he was a maitre d' hotei though !

  12. runestone0 November 1, 2009 at 3:23 am #

    Kay,

Hotei? With my current big belly I have one of the attrributes. I've always fancied myself to be one of the Seven Drunken Poets so revered in China–minus the poetry.

    Zenmonk,

It takes more than a few beers to get me to sing. Imagine a barn door creaking in the wind.

    Beachgirl,

I've come to the conclusion that we are all entertainerrs.

zenmonk…ps…not one to sing karaoke i do play ukulele as does my friend, jake, who a little bit well known, also plays same, lives in hawaii, wrote/played a sound track for a movie (true story of how a dying town was revived in 1960-70`s japan) you haven`t seen but was a hit in hawaii and japan for obvious reasons … yet though not as entertaining as `crazy wisdom bob` … may be mildly amusing…

    later…

  16. beachgirl November 1, 2009 at 3:23 pm #

Bob~`hotei`~and the 7 gods of japan…yes! any resemblance maybe a favourable sign of good luck … even in japan where round tummy (s) are viewed as auspicious and spiritually fashionable…

    perhaps like this… http://www.seiyaku.com/reference/seven/shichifuku

    Zenmonk,

I'm adding an extra hour of meditation today for you–so you can take the day off. I want you to take advantage of the law of least effort. It's worked wonders for me, although being fat and broke is no way to go through life.

  22. zenmonk November 4, 2009 at 11:35 pm #

Now you tell me Bob? To be fat was my next intent. :(

  23. zenmonk November 4, 2009 at 11:36 pm #

And, now you mentioned a hood Kay, Kannon kinda does look like she's wearing a hoodie. :o )

  24. mahabn November 5, 2009 at 2:11 am #

    stem cells from fat

  25. mahabn November 5, 2009 at 2:51 am #

Yes same thing in essence.. thousand arms and many hands and heads all suggestive of cell cloning and renewal. If all form is empty ( inherent nature ) then the panacea or myroloban would have no form but be such that could become any form or any cure to suit each individual need..

Note also placenta blood and umbilical cord stem cells etc.. the abilitity to become – any thing

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ksitigarbha http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akasagarbha

Evolution is same isn't it – if it has no form as its base it has the potential to become any form and can change or adapt ( the willow – to bend ) to suit the needs and conditions.

So it is for all things and thoughts that have no form . so it is for death so it is for life – these are constructs of mind.

Essentially it seems we are going back to the two original mother father cells of birth and likewise to Yab Yum -Samantabhadra / ri in union with the one being the mirror image of the other and which creates throughout Indra's Net. It is the most profound yet simple and happening naturally all around us ;)
