California approves plan to slash greenhouse gas emissions

The Los Angeles Times reports that the California Air Resources Board has just adopted the nation’s most sweeping plan to slash greenhouse gas emissions. The new regulations would cut the state’s emissions by 15% over the next 12 years.

I applaud California for taking a lead on this issue. While these regulations will potential result in higher fuel costs, they take a more holistic look at the overall economy and recognize that greenhouse gas emissions have an overall negative effect on the state.
