As we approach Halloween, it clearly becomes a great marketing opportunity for psychics and mediums. The general public becomes involved with thoughts of spooky ghosts and this is quite frankly, very entertaining. Hate to spoil the fun and put a wet blanket on what is a hot subject (oh noooooooooooooo) but ghosts are not spooky most of the time, and in fact, from my perspective they are not even ghosts at all. A few days I wrote a post declaring that ghosts are simply spirits wearing their Halloween costumes.
Our fascination with ghosts, both friendly and terrifying, speaks of our yearning to understand what happens to us after we go through the transition that many call "death." Many of who believe in life after death, do not use that word, but instead speak about how we make our transition to eternal life, once we no longer need the physical body.
Having slightly bashed Halloween, let me add that our participation in Halloween is a good thing, because it does once a year, bring the subject of spirits to the minds of most people. Perhaps this Halloween there will be a few people here and there who will realize that ghosts are not spooky. Perhaps these people can walk across that bridge of understanding and when they arrive on the other side, know that they can communicate with the spirits of their loved ones who have passed on. No longer will the thought of ghosts send chills down the spine. Instead, the thought of ghosts will immediately lead to the understanding that ghosts are simply spirits who want to communicate with us. And most of them are very friendly and some are extremely wise.
