Celebrate Great Night of Shiva on Monday, February 23, 2009

Here is a video in honor of the Great Night of Shiva, a Hindu festival celebrated this year on Monday, February 23. According to Hindu mythology, Shiva’s devotees fast all day, and offer flowers, fruit and ba leaves. Devotees also hold an all-night vigil, during which devotees perform Shiva’s Tandava. The Tandava is a vigorous dance signifying the cosmic cycle of creation, preservation and dissolution.

While I embrace no one teaching, I appreciate all teachings I encounter. I never ask anyone who comes to me to suspend or change their own belief system.

My only belief is that each individual is free. I encourage others to decide for themselves what to adapt or include from what they receive or simply transcend whatever may no longer be helpful or necessary.

I have many interests, chief among them reading, writing, walking along the ocean, keeping healthy and fit, observing nature and people, entertaining and travel.

I would enjoy meeting you here on Intent and learning what makes you happy, what your experience is like today, and about your dreams for the future.

May great moments be yours.

    Hi Donna,

Thank you for the beautiful chant of the maha-mrutyunjaya!

I will like to share another Shiv Mantra which I think is pure bliss:

    Om Namah Shivaya Guruveh

    Sat-Chit-Ananda Murtiyeh

    Nishprapanchayah; Shantayah; Nirlambayah; Tejasye

    This means:

    Salutations to the Lord Shiva

The embodiment of Truth Knolwedge and Bliss

He who is beyond the worlds (Nishprapanchayah),

    at peace (Shantayah),

    in-dependent (Nirlambayah)

    and Radiant ( Tejasye)

    Love and Light
