Commonness of Spiritual Experiences

Question:

When I was 20 years old about 12 years ago, I had a spiritual experience.  I later found that my experience was described by people who were describing contact with God or enlightenment.  Since then I have been writing about non-local consciousness that I have decided to name "Omniverse."  I believe the source of this knowledge is the Omniverse, or God, or the Field.  Do you have thoughts about the source of spiritual experiences and do you think it is a common experience?

Answer:

Our essential nature is spiritual, our true being that non-local pure consciousness that creates, sustains, and permeates the universe. So the source of spiritual experience is contact with our own authentic core consciousness. Calling it the omniverse is good, as long as you are clear that this knowledge is not separate or independent from your true self. It is not ‘out there’ it is your innermost self.

Spiritual experiences of this sort have always been accessible and  an integral part of the tradition of the evolution of awareness, but more and more these experiences of higher states of consciousness are becoming more frequent as humanity is rising toward a collective shift.

Love,

Deepak

We are Spiritual beings having a human experience…  Not sure where the quote came from but it is Heavenly!

Hi Kirsten, indeed heavenly :) . It is a quote by PierreTeilhard de Chardin, a priest, philosopher and scientist who lived in the first half of the last century. Love to you and to Deepak for so elegantly explaining the question, Hermien

Love to you magnificent Hermien and of course Deepak too! Thank you for reminding me who manifested that amazing observation…

"I later found that my experience was described by people who were describing contact with God or enlightenment."

This statement alone tells everyone you're not enlightened, and what you experienced is common in the spiritual field like Deepak states.

When Enlightenment or Self-realization happens you know exactly what's going at the moment it happens. There is no doubt, and you need not look for advice, read a book or anything, because it is an absolute understanding. The very fact that you seek advice after seeing God means it wasn't God, for God is an absolute.

    Dear Kurt,

The very fact that this natural fact has been suppressed in our world, gives everyone the right to share it and ask about it.

Those who knew did not talk about it because of that very fact!

Those who know about it now DO express it in words and in every artistic way that is possible.

By doing this we create the Noosphere, Pierre Teilhard de Chardin predicted, ourselves.

    Dear Kurt,

I do believe it is very well possible to have experiences we cannot voice because we have no words to describe them or not even a frame of reference. It is possible to grow up atheist or extremely orthodoxe christian for that matter and not learn anything about mystical experiences. From what I read, this person knew very well something extraordinary had happened, scanned her/his environment for something to relate that experience to, and then found words to express what happened. Whether it was enlightenment or not seems beside the point.

    Peace to you, Hermien

    Hi Mieke and Hermien,

I really didn't want to downgrade spiritual experience even though it sounded that way. I just wanted to differentiate between the two, so in essence I agree with you, however there is a huge difference, which needs pointing out.

It is hard to express it and as long as you don't jump to wrong conclusions with a guess you won't here from me. I see to much of this, and teachers who shouldn't be teaching are leading people astray and this isn't good.

Deepak is much better at letting someone down slowly and nicely than I am, but I'll keep working at it, and I'm learning as I go. I don't take these things personally so feel free to chime in and help out.

    Dear Kurt,

You are as good as Deepak :)

Every spiritual experience is unique and of course Deepak is very good with words and said it in his own natural way:

""When I recognize that no one experiences reality in exactly the same way, or responds to it in the same way, I am free! "" ~Deepak Chopra

    Namasté :)
