Dealing with difficult people

I was talking recently with a person who was experiencing problems with a colleague.

She said she had tried many things – tried to talk with the colleague, done a course in confidence, a course in assertiveness, but nothing worked. The colleague was still not respecting her and she was back feeling not confident and insecure. And in this climate, she said, she could not afford to lose her job.

The first thing to say is that confidence is not putting up a facade to be strong or behave in a certain way. It wouldn’t work, it wouldn’t last, it wouldn’t be genuine confidence. Confidence is feeling centred and good about yourself, free to be who you are and do what you choose, no matter what others say.

And sometimes assertiveness in dealing with difficult people does not work. They might deny, they might not respect your truth or feelings, maybe they are not ready to recognize their behavior and take responsibility for it, or they just don’t see it. It is necessary to do a more profound work, working at the subbtle energy level.

In the Universe everything is energy and one of the laws states that positive attracts positive. The more positive you are, the more good things you attract in life. If, on the other hand, we are not feeling good about ourselves, if we are insecure, if we are angry, if we have negative subconscious beliefs, we might attract what we do not want. The more we let go of all the subconscious negativities, the more good things will happen.

As you change, as you heal yourself, your whole world will change.
