Discovering Your True Beauty: Remember Only This

As the last post in this series, I want only to remind you of the most important. If you remember just one thing over these entire two weeks, please remember this: you are inherently beautiful, lovable, and perfect exactly as you are in this moment. Who you are needs no confirmation and no approval. You are already, have been, and will always be perfect – no matter what.

If your mind screams in protest and keeps a running tally of your imperfections, know that your mind is simply unable to grasp the truth of your being at this time. If other people in your life present you with perceived faults, know that they speak of themselves and not of you.

Hold ceaselessly to the following truth – you are as perfect today as you ever can be. Your mind may be presenting you with distorted pictures that eclipse this reality, but just as in an eclipse, it does not mean that the sun is not there, it is merely being blocked from view. Your mind may be blocking your beauty and your brilliance from view, but this in no way diminishes the beauty and the brilliance that you are.

So we return full circle to where we began: simply set right your idea of yourself. Believe me when I say you are already as perfect as can be, simply live according to this reality.

As Maharaj writes, “Go out wholeheartedly in search of the state of timeless perfection to which nothing can be added, from which nothing – take away…” Only realize that you need not go anywhere, nor do anything, because you already are this perfection. You are it, you have been it, and you will always be it. Deny any claim to the contrary, whether from your own mind or from the world outside. Immerse yourself in the wisdom, truth, and perfection of your true being.

You are perfect, only you don’t know it. Learn to know yourself and you will discover wonders. All you need is already within you, only you must approach yourself with reverence and love. Self-condemnation and self-distrust are grievous errors. Your constant flight from pain and search for pleasure is a sign of the love you bear for yourself; all I plead with you is this: make love of yourself perfect. Deny yourself nothing – give yourself infinity and eternity and discover that you do not need them; you are beyond.

    –Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

May you always know yourself as the perfection and the beauty that you are now, have always been, and will always be.
