Diwali, the annual Hindu Festival of Lights, is currently lighting up the sky in India, as the NASA picture below shows.
The five day festival is celebrated between mid-October and mid-November in India each year and is one of the most important celebrations of the year for Hindu and Jain families. Traditionally, people light small clay lamps filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. During the day time, celebrants wear new clothes and celebrate by sharing sweets with family members and friends.
