Do you struggle to find your purpose in life?

I’ve been struggling to find my true purpose in life.  I’m not passionate about my job, and people always say you should love what you do.  Don’t get me wrong, I have a great job, and I’m very thankful to have it.  I’m just not in love with it.  I struggle to get motivated to go there every day.

I’m interested in finding out what others have done to get on the right path or start moving in the right direction to discover what it is that you are meant to do.  I’d like to be able to say, "I was born to do this work".

I also have to balance that with doing work that will pay the bills.  There are pleanty of jobs out there I would like to do, but they just don’t pay enough.  I’m sure that there are others who feel the same way.  If anyone has any ideas, I’d love for you to leave a comment.

Easier said than done but I guess you can’t let money be your sole motivation…I’m an engineer and it pays the bills…I think when I was 12 I knew I wanted to be a writer…but even then I felt na…but how was I going to pay the bills…I also thought bout my family background and the ramifications of growing up on a small island in the Caribbean and being in a minority group there too not in Trinidad itself but as in the Caribbean…being of Indian ancestry…and about all the things that would be offered to me or not…and although my passion was for the literary arts and writing…I chose to continue with Maths and Science…cause to me it offered a secure job and I always wanted to be able to be financially independent…I think in that sense it worked out…but I perhaps always had that wish to write inside me …and having not pursued it…as soon as I graduated from Engineering I began to read voraciously all the things I ever wanted to but never had the time while studying although even on breaks in uni I used to go to the library and read literary things…and my room mate who was studying literature used to sometimes say I knew more bout it than her! I also always wanted to write then and many people doing Lit as degrees shared no desire to do so…But then I started career building and well forgot about it in a way again but after my career stabilised I started to rediscover what was at my core…I guess most people on here will tell you toget to it by meditation….but for me it doesnt even have to be formal meditation once its soul searching…looking inward whatever method you use to do it…to me Jesus was going through that when ‘he was being tempted by the devil’…So yea I think when I started to go on writing retreats and decided to blog on my site but then instead had a Manicou be my muse and wrote a play and have since been trying to write and dabble more into my creative pursuits…well I guess u just know what your passion is…but even I am like you cause I still earn my living as an engineer…and that is very demanding…but I do at times get passionate about that too…but perhaps it is not my raison d’etre here on earth…but I like you am still trying to figure it out is why I came on here to see if others had responded to you…so I could hear too…I think the challenge as it is currently for me…is like with you…how do you pay the bills and follow your passion…they say money will come…but to be that brave….so I think the less brave hearted have to do it in bits…so perhaps you can find ur true talents and if u cant express it in ur job …express it in ur hobbies at least for now and who knows…although sometimes if ur job is demanding the time to have hobbies is smaller but u have to find a way to do it! I think Deepak Chopra is a good exemplar of it though and many of his writings may also be helpful to you…maybe you can ask Deepak!:)

Might be good to consider: our purpose might not be in our work. It may be in something else: all the little things we do outside of work. On the other hand, it might be in our work, and if we haven't found it, we've got work to do. Then again, not really. Finding our purpose, I believe, can be as simple as sitting there and being.

Find a technique that allows you to find your center, (meditate, practice yoga, breathe, whatever works for you). Become familiar with your inner self, awareness, oneness, the God in you, whatever you want to call it. When you decide to do something, decide from that space within yourself: not with your thoughts, but with your core, essence, (again, whatever terms suit you).

It requires a certain amount of vigilance to move from this space in ourselves–we sometimes succumb to excessive thinking or ego. Getting there takes practice, (and I am by no means a master). Also, doing what we truly want to do can be a little frightening. However, I believe once we can move from this space in ourselves even some of the time, we find a great deal more joy and satisfaction in our work and play, whatever they end up becoming, every day.

Personally, I'm quite sure of my purpose; and I imagine that we all are, as we live that purpose each day without realizing it. Only, it may take some observation, perhaps, to gather or articulate it). The expression of our purposes, however, is another matter entirely! Yet I find ways to do so every day, as long as I keep my eye out, and dare to obey myself.

(It can be quite fun, I assure you).

Because it interfaces with the environment, skin plays a key role in protecting (the body) against pathogens and excessive Stretch Mark Removal Creams water loss.[4] Its other functions are insulation, temperature regulation, sensation, synthesis of vitamin D, Best Stretch Mark Removal Creams and the protection of vitamin B folates.
