Eating Healthy Simply by Replacing X with Y

Contrary to what you may believe, eating healthy does not have to require a drastic lifestyle change. You can eat the same things you always eat–just start buying a healthier version of it. Have gustatory substitution ideas not covered in the list? Feel free to share them in the comments below!

  • Replace cow milk with soy milk
  • Replace coffee with tea
  • Replace white bread with whole wheat bread
  • Replace white rice with brown rice
  • Replace ice cream with yogurt
  • Replace animal meat with veggie meat (take my word on this–you’d be surprised how convincing and good these things are these days!)
  • Replace processed sugar with stevia or honey
  • Replace potato chips with kale chips
  • Replace salt with sea salt
  • Replace plain pasta with whole-wheat pasta
  • Replace cooked vegetables with uncooked, raw salads
  • Replace canned, creamy soups (usually containing MSG) with miso soup
  • Replace whole eggs with egg whites (the egg yolk can be used as a great facial mask)
  • Replace sour cream with low-fat, plain yogurt

 Bon appetit!
