In this Economy…

I went out with friends this weekend and I found us saying that an awful lot… “In this economic climate this” and “In this economic climate that”.  Every time I said it I flinched a little on the inside.  Yes, it’s good to be frugal and yes, it’s good to keep current, but as someone who actively tries to create opportunity and possibility with her thoughts, it’s hard not to wonder to what degree recession is created by thought?

Recently, my husband and I started adhering to a much stricter budget.  In light of what is going on, we are concentrating on paying down our debt and that means less likeliness of spending money on something that is not an immediate necessity.  Directly affected was our spending on eating or drinking out.  So, I am now finding myself saying more often than not – whether to friends or in my mind – that I can’t join in because I don’t have the money.

Now,  of course this isn’t exactly a true statement and I wonder how much my continued thoughts and statements are affecting my ability to attract more positive economic opportunity in my life.  Previous to the budget, I had never thought of not doing something for lack of funds and I know I’m not the only one tightening the purse strings.  So, in this economic climate, it is more important than ever to remain focused on the positive aspects of our lives and financial situations and be grateful for what we have got… and then create what it is that we want more of!

Hi, I manage and write several blog websites - the running theme in all of them is affecting positive change in the world. Which is why I love the idea behind intent.com and look forward to making friends who are interested in the same topics.
