Ecotouring New Zealand

Fancy an organized ecotour of New Zealand?

Adventure travel company Terra Incognita ECOTOURS is offering a new ecotour of New Zealand for 2010.   Specializing in wildlife-focused ecotours, the company will take “ecotourists” to North and South Islands of New Zealand to experience the wildlife, scenery, and culture of the region.

Among the sights and experiences will be newly-hatched penguins, the flightless kiwi, marine life, Maori culture, high altitude sheep farming, fjords, seals, dolphins, rainforest and glaciers.

Terra Incognita ECOTOURS will donate part of the booking fee to the Tiritiri Matangi Conservation Project.   The project is a program that works to protect  indigenous plants and animals on a small island off the coast of New Zealand.

Other journey highlights will include:

  • Taking a ride on the TranzAlpine train, considered one of the top six train journeys in the world.
  • Hearing private lectures given by local ecotourism experts.
  • Taking an overnight cruise on the pristine and uncrowded Doubtful Sound, which is three times longer than Milford Sound and has a surface area 10 times larger.
  • Taking a private cruise to Maud Island in the Marlborough Sounds.
  • Hearing a private talk given by Dr. Hamish Campbell, a geologist in residence at the Te Papa National Museum of New Zealand.
  • Guiding by private, expert guides offering insight on the Maori culture.
  • Learning about New Zealand and geothermal energy for electricity.
  • Staying at Millennium Hotel in Christchurch and the Copthorne Hotel in Wellington; at Arthur’s Pass Wilderness Lodge, Lake Moeraki Wilderness Lodge, Novotel Lakeside in Queenstown, Heartland Hotel in Marlborough, and the Hyatt Regency Auckland.
