FAQ

Getting Started

I signed up for Intent, now what?

A great first step is to fill out your bio, and upload a picture. Having a picture is very important, since you need one to be featured on the front page. It is also important because most members find it easier to identify and trust someone they can see.

You should also go ahead and enter your first Intent.

How do I edit or delete my blog?

First, go to your profile. Then click the blog tab in the top center of your page. Last, click ‘Edit’ on the blog you would like to edit. To delete, place a check mark next to the blog you would like to remove, and click the orange ‘Delete’ link right under your most recent user comment.

Intents

I added my intent, but it does not show up as my primary intent. How do I make it my primary intent?

4. Click ‘Make this My Primary Intent’ and click ‘Save Changes’ And you are done!

This will also fix your primary intent if you signed up and only see quotation marks.

Someone has supported my intent, what does that mean?

Intent Voices

What is the difference between Intent Voices and an Intent Member?

Intent membership is free for everyone. As a member you have access to our front page under the ‘our member blogs’ section. The section updates in real-time as you blog. This is the methoid most users join Intent.

Intent voices are, in most cases, authors, well-known bloggers, and staff. Here are the current guidelines for an Intent Voice:

1. Generally, our Intent Voices are published authors. At the minimum, they are experts in their respective fields.

2. Write prolifically (2 or 3 posts per week).

3. Write in a way that goes directly and clearly to the heart of fulfilling specific, identifiable and common intentions (ie, not self-indulgent, not ranting, not meandering posts, etc.)

4. Be in alignment with Intent.com’s vision, focus, ethos, and voice.

5. Be open to editing of their content at the discretion of Intent.

6. Write succinctly (ie, someone who understands that writing for the Web is different.

7. Be open to posting in media other than text (with our assistance)

8. Be willing to engage with the Intent.com community.

9. Intent Voice posts are of a quality and caliber that is magazine or book-worthy. The posts should have no grammar or spelling errors, and should address a specific issue or concern, aka, a "thesis."

If you feel you meet these criteria, you can email a submission to editor@intent.com. Due to the number of request we receive, we are only able to contact you if we choose to feature your content as an Intent Voice. Thanks!

Your Profile

I registered, but did not recieve a confirmation email, what do I do?

It is likely the confirmation email could have gone to your spam. If the email is not there, please contact support@intent.com, and we will straighten everything out for you right away.

"This is the methoid most users join Intent"

Should read: "This is the method most users utilize to join Intent".

"6. Write succinctly (ie, someone who understands that writing for the Web is different".

Should read the same, simply add a closing ) at the end.

I know, I know, mayhap a little nitpicky, but guideline #9 compelled me to offer these edits.

    Peace

I dont like the magazine idea or the whole editorial snob business though and I get the vibe many others fell same like me too! I mean writing for the web! Isnt that the whole point?- People all over the world just want to be free? We dont want an online version of Good Housekeeping ladies! :) And all the images of size zero women in the Intent front page pics! Is that health!? I know Im fat but gosh….whats with all the stick figure images of women already on here!? And some Intent series that dragged on and on that no one even wrote one comment on …dont know if that meant no one read but…hint.. hint? Although of course I don't know if comments = interest but usually if it sparked interest there would be comments? Dunno of course I've blogged many posts here and received 0 comments myself. But when it is the Intent series and up on the front page for so long and post after post day after day nothing said…well…hint…hint! Of course this is just my point of view and others might have different ideas and like the whole mag thing and the size zero look so…but just my little point of view! And no offence or hurt intended!
