Feeling Uninspired on Wednesdays and Thursdays? 7 Ideas To Make Hump Days More Fun

For all the bad rep that Mondays get, we actually need to be more careful about Wednesday. Studies have shown that people tend to be more depressed on the hump day that is Wednesday than any other day of the week.

Which makes perfect sense. Wednesday does not have the busyness and excitement of starting a brand new week, and is too far off from the weekend to really anticipate the much-needed two-day break. For many of us, Wednesdays and Thursdays tend to be the days when we may start feeling uninspired, or overwhelmed, or simply antsy because the week isn’t over soon enough.

Fear not. With an extra shot of mindfulness and some creativity, there are many ways to make your next hump days bearable and even fun. Even though the weekend seems far away, here are 10 ideas to celebrate Hump Day with some verve and style:

1. Anticipate the boredom / depression / antsiness that you tend to feel on Hump Day. If you can anticipate your Hump Day crankiness, you will be more prepared to deal with it accordingly. Such as… a frozen yogurt treat during lunch break? Why not!

2. Make Hump Day a weekly date night with your spouse or partner. Get it? Get it?! Nothing like a double entrendre to spice up your relationship on Hump Day.

3. Make Hump Day an excuse to go out somewhere after work and do something fun– a coffee shop, a new restaurant, a night out with friends. By feeling energized on a Wednesday night, you will feel recharged enough to work diligently through the rest of the week.

4. Reward yourself on Hump Day with something nice. Some freshly cut flowers. A bakery treat. A MASSAGE APPOINTMENT. Nothing like little treats to turn that frown upside-down, especially on that dreaded Hump Day.

5. Do something nice for someone else on Hump Day. In addition to treating yourself, how about treating another person? Maybe Hump Day can be your personal challenge to do an act of kindness to another person.

6. Rock your most awesome and colorful outfit on Hump Day. When you look fabulous, you feel fabulous. So how about making the extra effort to look good with some bright colors on the day notorious for making people feel like crap? Not only will you energize yourself by exuding confidence in your favorite dress, shirt, boots and all-around ensemble, you will inspire other people with your positive energy, too.

7. It’s all a matter of perspective: a hump day is really just any other day, and just as wonderful, too. Can it be possible to be more mindful and realize that even though it is the middle of the week, the day is still filled with so many possibilities to learn, grow, love, celebrate and have fun? Change your perspective, be thankful for what you have, and maybe you will be completely unfazed when your next hump day rolls around.
