Question:
I am 23 years old and yet I haven’t decided what I want to do in my life… Two years ago I was pretty sure that I wanted to be a director, then a poet, but now the passion for those ideas is gone and I’m really confused. What should I do to find out which is my real talent? I don’t want to waste any more time. Please if you could help me I would be grateful.
Answer:
First of all you can let go of the view that there is one thing that you will be doing in your life and that if you figure that out everything will be clear and simple. All you need to do is settle down and listen to your heart as to what you want to do right now. If you live your life fully engaged in the present moment, responding to what the environment is offering you now, that is your life direction for the time. As you follow that trail of interest, it will be your journey of self-discovery and it will become your career.
Don’t worry about titles, think in terms of what gifts you have to offer and then translate that into action. If you have considered directing and poetry, then you apparently have a creative bent. Tap into your creative spirit and manifest your vision.

Deepak

Deepak,
Thanks for this. I appreciate it as I was in a similar position when I was 23–am now 30 and things have been muddling along for a while. Fortunately, now I'm on disability and have the chance now to work on writing my books etc. without worrying about looking for a job. Thanks.
Love,
Brigit
Being committed to some goal in your life – a sense of having a mission, a purpose, even a calling – is a very motivating, very comforting thing. Some people's mission steps up to greet them, others have to hunt theirs down.
Motivation that comes from inside is the first key ingredient to every successful endeavour. Encourage yourself to find out what thrills you, what suits you, what brings you pride.
Do the things you love to do and are passionate about, then you'll have few regrets. Conspicuous success or public acknowledgement for these things may or may not come, but it won't trouble you much either way because you'll be happily enjoying yourself.
What intrigues you? What questions about any aspect of life or the universe absolutely enthrall you? There's your direction!
Although we cannot map out lives in advance, much can be done to make desirable outcomes more likely. Acquiring an exceptional ability is one such outcome.
Find yourself a purpose in life and then don't let that be muddled or overshadowed by the hurly-burly of day-to-day events.
I have endless get up and go for the things that I enjoy.
Be open to discoveries. Don't have too fixed a notion of the path, but rather have some idea of the kind of things that most appeal to you.
Go after your dreams – let them lead you. It's your chance of profound happiness.
A strong curiosity and the ability to enjoy whatever you are doing, are a huge help in life. To read more: http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/2009/08/2…
dear deepak,
wonderful answer, and if he/she is that much confused he/she can consult an career expert to know where his/her talents lie. after that the other things can be nurtured parallely.
Wish you love, peace and happiness.

There are survey tools that one can use to help identify what areas pique the most interest and most align with one's ideals. The surveys are fairly comprehensive, but by no means a fail-safe answer to all questions.
Here's a link to a site that provides these surveys. Some are programs that can be downloaded and used on your own computer. Check it out:

This is the best part "All you need to do is settle down and listen to your heart as to what you want to do right now. If you live your life fully engaged in the present moment…" It is very hard for me to let go of the present. I am a creative person and work as a Kinder teacher and I wish I could just leave this job and fulfill my heart's desire in my creative hobby. I know I would be happier, I just dont know how…..
