okay… so off to the craziness that is the holiday season…
we all have things in our life that is stressful… and no one’s if worse off than anyone else’s… i wanted to take a moment to share my plan for my stressful holiday…
when i arrive…
the first thing i am going to do is reaffirm my commitment to my own health and happiness…
expectation reduces joy…
and i will not decide how people will react to things nor will i protect anyone from things i think they should not hear…
I will reaffirm my commitment to meditate… although it is difficult to do all of the things you would do at home… but i have planned ahead for what I will do… this is important because every one will want some of you. you need to know where you are… 30 minutes for meditation is nothing… they dont even have to know what you are doing or that you are even awake.
i will take each moment for what it is.
i will accept each person for who they are and know that they are doing the best they can do.
i am entering the holiday season with love in my heart… and again and again i think of my favorite, avadhuta gita as translated by swami chanananda:
truly, the mind is like space; it seems to face in all directions, it seems to transcend everything; it seems to be everything; but in reality the mind does not exist.
