I Take The Vow

I feel I am ready to take the vow for non-violence in thought, speech and deed. I recognise that love and peace begins with me and I must have courage, strength and be true.

I will break the cycle of anger in my family, break free from the bondage of the past, embrace forgiveness and most of all, love. It is time for me to take notice and pay attention to the signs telling me that the answer is and always will be LOVE. Through meditation, through books, through chance meetings… the universe has validated me, my purpose and my answers. The over-riding theme/answer is LOVE and I need this to create peace in myself, in my home, in my community and in the world.

I take the vow of non-violence and therefore can no longer give in to my anger. With the support of friends I know I can do this.

I will tell more than two friends about this vow and encourage them to take it as well.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

With love

Toni

I Take The Vow

I’ve recently spent time with the family of a fabulous 101 year old woman who instilled the principle of "love without condition" into all her offspring & theirs. She’s done this with loving, but solid enforcement of her rules (I’m paraphrasing from conversations with her daughters & grandaughters):

  • We aggree to disagree but do not fight & argue
  • We forgive
  • We accept & respect everyone despite our differences

This lovely, wonderful woman not only taught & enforced these rules, but lived them out to the extent of offering forgiveness to a man who killed one of her beloved family members.

I’m excited to learn more from this wonderful group of people & have been inspired to do some of my own research on living a more loving life.

I found Intent & I Take The Vow because a friend of mine recently started following me on Twitter & I figured I better start using it (I’ve been signed up for at least a year!).

The Universe really does conspire to put all elements into play at the right moment, huh?

  • My readiness
  • My friend pushes me back towards Twitter
  • I look up Brian Johnson from Philosopher’s Notes on Twitter ’cause I know he tweets
  • Brian has a tweet about I Take The Vow that leads me to Intent

Too cool!

Well, that’s just a start. I do know that research & learning aren’t really going to make me a better & more loving person (but I’m a learning & research junkie!).

The real test is day-to-day thoughts, speech & action.

So far, so good today.

About ggwellness

In my 40's, I'm finally living authentically. After years of being stressed & living the dreams of others, I'm finally working towards my dreams. Its been quite an adventure so far! And I'm still figuring it all out.

All our lives we've heard the phrase, "the grass is greener on the other side of the fence."  Isn't a well-lived life the "Greener Grass" that people are looking for?

I've been thinking for the past few years that the best way to get someone to live healthier & with more peace is to show them what that life looks like.

So, I'm trying to create a life that looks & feels: fun, healthy, free, peaceful, full of friends & love.

Don't expect perfection though! I avoid perfection at all costs! (besides...I just can't manage perfection for more than about 30 seconds!!).

I Take The Vow

Perhaps the greatest beauty of The Vow of Non-violence lies in its simplicity. One doesn’t have to remember any special formula or word order. The simple notion of living peacefully enters conciousness and takes up residence,  gently delivering a nudge of reminder when appropriate. This concept has the potential to transform the planet and it is my intention to spread it to our wonderful youth!

I take the vow

I honor Dr. Deepak Chopra’s stong first wish with this vow that I will speak of, in which I too will take the vow that he proclaimed in regards to non-violence in our existential and subconscious beings.  I do hope that beyond a tidal wave of understanding, thinking and making the decision to do something so powerful within our lives, and as with that power, it can be immeasurable; in such a large/positive scale, that the possibility of the coherence of just not ones affected by the wave, but all living organisms that vibrate within our vast frequencies of existence.  In short, a most unified and coherent global shift by taking a vow, which I will pass to many.  In by taking this vow, myself and others shall do know that the energy invested in a full committment to not turn back on the forward progress that our waves of unfolding the great golden, ever flowing river of choice for positive life is on the verge of accually happenin; that is quite ineffable.

 Sincerely,

 Joe Vaught

Long term, I would hope that most human beings begin to open themselves up, so that the gold can be poured into their newly based level. Besides that, I love to chat about evolution of consciousness, global coherence and global consciousnesss.

I take the Vow

Deeply moved by Deepak’s post asking for vows of non-violence, I recommited myself to the vow of ahimsa that I took after seeing the movie Gandhi many years ago.

I have shared this intent with many friends and family members and have asked them to make this commitment with me.

Next weekend, I preach the masses at the parish where I serve.  I will be asking our entire congregation to prayerfully be open to taking the vow as well.

I asked a friend today to consider taking the vow.  He is a child of the 1960′s and the anti-war movement.  He smiled and said "Greg, I took the vow thirty years ago."  I think I better understand the peace and compassion he radiates better now.

Love you Deepak, +Greg

I Take The Vow

From its first beat, my heart has had one prayer-

"Promise, my love- to love.

Your eyes, your words and your intention

Will be of truth each time you do.

Love what you see and what you are

As much as I do."

I fell asleep and layer after layer

That simple beat seemed gone.

My world- a noisy blend of hatred and affection

Between a rightful I and wrongful you;

And still, my heart, afar

I heard "I love you".

But every beat was true, and here is where

I hear you loud and clear.

With all my heart, with all my soul and my attention

You ask me if I promise and today- I do.

I promise to be true to what we are

Both me and you.

I take the Vow

AlohaI take a vow of non violence in my speech, thoughts and actions. This is something I have tried to live by since I was young. When I was young I was touched by the teachings of Jesus. So much so that I had to leave the church because of the churches acceptance of war. And if you study enough history you can see what Jesus was talking about. There are no good guys in any war. One can generally trace the root to most conflicts back to to mistakes made by both sides. Even Hitler came to power as a result of how the Germans were treated after world war one. And of course world war one was the result of a power grab by all sides, and it goes on and on. Sometimes the root of a conflict happens generations before the actual war. That is why in my meditations on peace I not only focus on our current conflicts but on the future ones as well. Because the cause of a war that may happen in fifty years actually could begin tomorrow.Peace

About dakine

Aloha! My name is Michael. I am a writer currently living on the Big Island of Hawaii. Years ago I was earning a very modest living as a writer in the bay area. A literary Agent discovered me and persuaded me to move to L.A. After nearly getting a film deal with Dennis Hopper, things slid down hill. I drifted into business and waited to die. a few years ago I befriended one of my clients who was a C.O.O for an entertainment company and he read some of my work. He encouraged me to write again. It had always felt like I had abandoned my true purpose in this life. So I did the unthinkable. I quit a 6 figure job and moved my family to Hawaii. It paid off in the writing as I finally found a unique voice and have written two scripts and have 2 more in development. Financially it has been sort of a disaster but I know I made the right move. My work is metaphysical in nature but written for a broader audience then most of the genre. Sort of an introduction if you will. My intent is to spread peace, love and a better understanding of how our universe of abundance works through film and internet project. Peace to all.

I take the vow

and join Deepak. Every single decision makes a difference and I think this is a beautiful idea. Thank you Deepak!

22.12.08:
After having taken the vow I find myself having to change some things… I discovered that I am using some words I did not use before and tend to see things more aggressively than before. Perhaps it is because of the tight situation I feel like thrown in. I am confident about the outcome but do not really want to discuss all the ugly stuff that lies in between. No need bothering you with details…

What I mean is that I still take the vow, I promised it long before so I am sure I can take it. But I made the decision to turn it into a positive vow of peace and love in thought, speech and action because I do not feel the use of being against violence but I do feel a strong need for peace.

I Take the Vow

Deepak Chopra challenged each and every one of us today to commit to non-violent thoughts, actions and words. What a powerful statement he has made with this intention.

My intent, then, is to do the same. I make this pledge to think, act, and speak in peace since I know it will make a difference in my world and the world around me.

I encourage you to speak, act and think non-violent thoughts each and every moment of your day.

I also plan to incorporate meditation into my daily schedule once again. This is just one tool that helps me clear my mind and provides me with the opportunity to let peace into my heart.

Now I challenge you to take the vow.
