A few days ago, I was reading a magazine and started taking note of how many people advertisements there were in it. And, how almost every person in the magazine was skinny, pretty, and had close to zero flaws. I knew that most of those people had been computer modified, and have come to terms with my athletic build, but there was still a voice in my head and a plea in my heart that wanted to look like that. When I centered myself once more, I thought about how many other girls and women were out there probably thinking the same thing I was.
Those thoughts led to about three hours of researching what most people thought beauty was. Time after time I came to the same conclusion: skinny pretty models with no flaws. To me, it didn’t seem right. I know girls who are bigger, but they are happy with themselves and they radiate an energy that is more beautiful than anything else. This led me to my own definition of beauty:
Beauty isn’t something that is on the outside, it’s something that is within. When we find our beauty within ourselves, we radiate an energy that is attractive. This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t take care of our exterior body, because we should. We can pamper and take care of our bodies while still taking care of what is within us. That makes us the most beautiful of all.
That conclusion changed my outlook on how I looked. As I said, I’ve come to terms with my body, but there is still that voice that says it isn’t good enough. After I wrote what beauty really was I felt beautiful.
To share what I have learned and noticed, I started a blog called In2outbeauty. On a daily basis I give tips on how to make your skin and body beautiful, but also tips to help make you beautiful on the inside. Read more here.
