Intent of the Day: Fear Of Failure

“I intend to stop being afraid of failure”

Support Dickie’s Intent

Imagine a world where nothing could possibly go wrong. Think of all the things that we could accomplish if we were not afraid of failing. The fear of failure, also known as atychiphobia, is the number one thing that holds us back from reaching our full potential. Why are we so afraid? Is it a fear of criticism? Rejection? Judgement? All of the above?

In the movie ‘We Bought A Zoo,’ the main character Benjamin Mee says “Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of just embarrassing bravery. And I promise you, something great will come of it.” We can overcome our fear of failure by showing that courage. Stop thinking about the outcomes and consequences, and just go for it. If you can live with the worst thing that could possibly happen, then there is nothing you should be afraid of.

Just take the leap. Embrace whatever comes your way.
