An Introduction to “30 Days to a Greener You”

Perhaps the biggest misconception about living green is that it requires for us to sacrifice our pleasures for a more meager, less fun existence. After all, for all the research that has been done on the environmentally damaging effects of plastic water bottles, eating beef, and driving our cars, many of us are still guilty of choosing convenience over green ethics when it comes to our everyday actions.

But this series is not meant to guilt you or scare you into becoming more green. Rather, we hope to nurture in all of you a whole new mindset to genuinely care about the one and only beautiful planet that we have. Becoming more green is not as simple as giving up material pleasures, but also deepening and enriching our relationship with ourselves, our communities and our planet as a whole. When we eat healthier, organic food, we are not only making ourselves feel better, but also supporting our local farmers. When we focus less on expensive gifts and more on human bonding, we nourish our spirits and our planet at the same time.

When all of us think beyond our own individual desires to feel genuine concern for the future of humanity and our planet, we finally have hope of bringing everlasting peace on earth.

In addition to gathering together the best green-related articles from our very own Intent Voices, I’ve had the privilege to interview several notable individuals who are doing significant work in helping save our planet. Along with our blog posts, quizzes and articles, you will also have the chance to listen firsthand from some of our best living green heroes today: such as co-founder of Greenpeace Rex Weyler and award-winning journalist Simran Sethi (check her out on the Oprah Winfrey show today!).

Listen to "Fighting the Good Fight for Mother Earth" with Simran Sethi.

It takes only thirty days to develop a lifelong habit. Which is why I hope that by the time you finish participating in Intent’s “30 Days to a Greener You” series, living green will become a permanent part of your everyday philosophy for the rest of your life.
