Is it Really the End?

When you feel like you’ve come to the end, it only means you’ve come to the end of yourself.  You’ve come to the end of your limited experience and knowledge.  They can carry you no further.  Now you are in uncharted territory.

It’s terrifying.

When you get to the end of yourself, when you feel like you can’t go on any further because all is lost, you are experiencing a death so that the new you can be born to go places the old you could never go.

The new you is, of course, terrified, like a newborn moose still wobbly on its legs, and just learning to walk.

Nothing is familiar.

They are no smooth, well worth paths to follow.

The earth itself seems to shake beneath you.

So you just keep wobbling, and stumbling over and over, falling in the direction that feels right – until you create your own path.

And it is then, that you remember the famous words of the Carthaginian General Hannibal.

They come echoing through the woods carried on the wind . . .

That voice . . .

Yes . . . that unmistakable . . . familiar . . . comforting voice.

Whispering on the wind . . .

“We will either find a way or make one.”

And it is in that moment you remember that this is, in fact, what you’ve been doing your whole life.

And your chest swells up with pride, and courage fills your soul because. . . suddenly. . . you realize that you can do it again.

And you can.

And you will.
