I don’t watch TV often but the other night, I did find a show that was worth watching! Jamie Oliver’s thought-provoking series, "Food Revolution", has now hit the air. And it is proving to be a success nationwide.
Oliver is here to start a healthy revolution. This could be the catalyst that our Nation urgently needs to create a major shift in our children’s health. He hopes to start a chain reaction of positive healthy change across the country. He has already transformed the British school food program.
Our children are currently not eating real food and will face major health issues in their 30′s if things do not change. Currently, it is estimated that one out of every three children in the United States is obese! This is the first generation of children who are expected to live a shorter life than their parents.
In the 6-part series, Oliver heads to Huntington, West Virginia, statistically the most overweight city in America, to change the city’s eating habits. He starts with what kids are being fed in elementary schools, which includes pizza for breakfast and chicken nuggets galore. Unbelievable!
At one point during the first episode, Oliver holds up tomatoes and asks the children know what they are. Not one response. Not one child recognizes a potato or knows it as the source of French fries. Wow.
He faces major resistance from the adults in the town who do not believe they need to make changes. Change of any kind is usually met with resistance, so this is not a surprise.
By the end of the episode, Jamie has made progress in educating and changing some behaviors and habits. But he has some hard work ahead of him!
I highly recommend tuning in on Friday nights at 9pm to watch "Food Revolution". If you have children, watch it with them as well. Or you can watch online at any time!

i believe in what The Naked Chef is doing and can't support him enough, especially because he's doing it for the children. when children start vomiting up feces as a result of the kind of diet they're being FORCE fed, i'd say it's time to recognize that something's wrong with what we're putting into our bodies, no? i also read, unfortunately, that his effort is being met with vocal and well-financed resistance in LA (and we all know who the voice and the money is behind that). my own personal experience of the Big Food hell left my body so traumatized, that for the last 15 years, i have been able to eat only medicinally, because my body is incapable of withstanding even the mildest toxicity from food, because for 30 years, i was eating S–T because the TV was telling me to and it nearly killed me, literally. but everybody's free to make their own choices. it impresses me to no end how so many people so often make the wrong ones knowingly while convincing themselves they're "right." isn't that one definition of stupid behaviour?
