Let Go. Let God

Sometimes, no matter how much you prepare, things don’t quite go, as you would like. Rather than beat yourself up or curse the universe, let go of the disappointment and move forward.

We have all been there before, spent days preparing for a big interview or audition. I know you have a lot at stake in making a great impression and “acing it”. But for some reason, you walk in, your heart is racing, you are tripping over your words, it’s hard to collect yourself, and things don’t go, quite as planned. We all have a story we can tell, that might even be worse. You walk out of the meeting kicking yourself, reading yourself the riot act, and reminding yourself of just how much was at stake.

I won’t even tell you, never beat yourself up. That’s not reasonable. But I will say, don’t wallow in it. Call a friend, vent, scream, spend a moment, and then move the heck on.

Consider that there is a larger “game” at play. Everything does NOT hinge on this moment. If you are old enough, you will remember that you have had quite of few of these “pivotal” moments. If this is yours to have, you will get it. If not, release it, and move on.

Take comfort in that you did your best. You did your homework. The rest is hard knocks of life and circumstance. Also, you can often be your worse critic. People are rarely looking at what you are looking at. People also see your heart and intention and will choose you despite a few flubs and missteps. I am sure you can cite times that you’ve won opportunities when you were not at your best and the same is true, that even at your best, no one called. You are never quite sure what it is others are focused on or looking for.

I like to say, let go and let God. Let the universe, in its time reveal what is in store for you.
