What makes this organization special?

Give Back Yoga’s Yoga for Veterans project is successfully using yoga to support the growing number of returning veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. When soldiers return home, they often struggle with serious mental health problems including Post-Tramatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), major depression, and traumatic brain injury. Since trauma affects the body, mind and spirt,  a holistic, integrated treatment approach that includes mindful yoga practices are incredibly helpful to these men and women, as well as their families.

Yoga for Veterans supports teachers and programs focused on addressing the unique needs of those returning home from active duty. Yoga and meditation have been shown to help veterans lead more successful post-deployment lives and support the transition back to civilian life. Veterans report that it helps them reconnect with themselves, their friends, and their families. Many say that yoga helps them regain control over a nervous system that is always “on edge.”
