“You don’t have to get dressed up, there’s no tipping…”
Oh man. It doesn’t get much worse than this. This 1976 McDonald’s ad, posted by copyranter, is all too indicative of the racist undertones plagued American society in the 1970s. But while you certainly won’t see any ads this blatant today, have we really moved completely past the stereotypes conveyed in copy of this ad?
The folks at Upworthy ask a great question… Have advertising firms today gotten better at being human, or just subtler at being racially insensitive?



Guess what? McDonald's used the same slogan with pictures of white families. Now please go find something worthwhile to get pissed off about that inspires progressive social action.
To be fair, black people are notorious for being crappy tippers.
