News Flash: SIGG Bottles Contain BPA – Shocking Announcement from CEO

Green Scout Report was appalled to hear that one of the leading eco-friendly reusable water bottles made by the Swiss company Sigg contains BPA in their epoxy liners! According to a press statement made recently by Steve Wasik, CEO of Sigg, bottles manufactured before August 2008 contain BPA (Bisphenol A), which contains estrogen-like endocrine disruptor.

The Journal of the American Medical Association published a research done by a British team of scientists.  Of the 1,455 U.S. adults tested, the more BPA in their urine, the higher their rates of heart disease and diabetes. They also found a link between abnormal liver enzymes in people and BPA, suggesting that the chemical alters how the liver functions.

Most eco-friendly water bottle companies have stopped using BPA.  I personally do not use the Sigg brand, but I know so many people who do.  If you have bought a Sigg bottle recently, please make sure that it was produced before August 2008.
