The past week has been “different”

I realize I haven’t  made an entry. There really isn’t too much to write about, I thought, but it has been an odd week. Nothing that would be of particular interest to anybody, but I’m just going to record my week and thoughts for myself.

I don’t think I lost any weight this week. In fact I think I gained. It’s hard to tell because I can fluctuate so much due to my meds and water retention. I was on a med for about 5 days that promoted weight gain and it also gave me a headache so I went off it. My diet has been poor this week even though my activity level has been good. I’ll step on the scale tomorrow morning and see where I am at.

I spent a good day with my mother-in-law on Friday, but that’s where I ran into real trouble on my diet eating fried chicken and chocolate cake. We did take a little walk, though not far enough.

On Thursday nights I have a women’s issues class. I left my purse there. Realized it as soon as I got home about 15 minutes later. Went right back for it and someone had left my purse where it was but stole the money out of it. It could have been worse; she could have taken my charge cards, driver’s license, etc. but she just took the money and a pair of movie tickets. What bothers me most is that I will be attending class in the future with a thief in my company. I can’t seem to let it go.

When I got home from class, my husband told me there was a present for me in the bedroom. I’m thinking he bought me the bird bath warmer that keeps the water from freezing in the winter. I have been wanting one and my class that he drives me to is right near the wild bird store. Instead, I got a pair of hermit crabs. Yep, hermit crabs.

Where on earth did he get the notion to get me hermit crabs? Well, I have been wanting an aquarium but Gary kept saying that an aquarium, especially salt water, was too much trouble. So I asked for an aquarium with just pretty goldfish. Well, he’s at the mall by himself and sees these hermit crabs. He thinks they’re cute and that they would be less trouble than an aquarium.

I accept that they are kind of cute. I look up the proper care and feeding of hermit crabs on the net. It seems they are a lot more trouble than an aquarium. First of all, they are very social creatures so two are really not enough. Second, they need more room than the mini-habitat he brought them home in. We go to the store for a 10 gallon aquarium, supplies, another crab, some empty shells for when they grow, etc. All told about $200 was spent on some critters that my husband thought would be cheap and easy. Oh wait a minute, that’s me.

Finally, my husband got sick on Friday and so we have had a pretty quiet weekend, but I have busted my but waiting on him. How many people think big, strong, men (He’s 6’2" and almost 200 lbs) turn into whiny babies when they are sick? Fortunately it’s rare that he is sick and I have to put up with baby Gary.

I took a neighbor’s senior yearbook photo for her. I do a lot of photography but this is the first time I’ve done a portrait and retouched the photos. They actually came out quite well. I can put a feather in my cap for that one. I need one for something since I am not getting slim and fit as quickly as I would like, and I count this week as a setback in that arena.

Now I have the flu.  Easier to cope with than a migraine, though.  The insomnia is relentless, though.

That’s about all folks.
