Patience. Lessons in Patience.

I guess I kind of jumped the gun in announcing that I’d be spending a week at a monastery in June. It turns out that they have events that keep the monks busy until July. They wrote me to apologize yesterday. I replied, "That sounds as it should be. I very much want to stay with you. Please register me for those dates."

Sometimes I forget that not everybody runs on Silicon Valley time. What was I thinking that Buddhist monks would get back to me within the hour?

Patience, Grasshopper. Patience.

Today, I’m eager to get my new Tibetan singing bowls. Actually they’re both quite old, but they’re new to me. Both are large healing-grade bowls (meaning they sustain their sound for more than a minute after a strike). They’re on the truck for delivery, and I found myself jumping up to see if it was the FedEx truck every time I heard a truck or van.

Time to breathe. Breathe in happiness. Breathe out a smile to myself. Breathe in the stillness of water. Breathe out the solidity of a mountain. Breathe in the wisdom of the Universe. Breathe out love and joy.

Patience, Grasshopper. Patience.

All is as it should be.

About markwrites

I'm your classic Indigo child. I've spent a lifetime tilting at windmills, challenging authority, and not fitting in. I've even been diagnosed with ADHD (at a very high level). Now I'm a Reiki master, Tibetan Singing Bowl player, intuitive, and writer. Everybody tells me that I'm a natural teacher, and I did love it when I taught writing at a major university in California. Today I live in Colorado, where I am closer to the mountains that speak to me. I'm not sure where I'm heading now, but I know something is calling me. I just hope the callers have a way to pay my earthly responsibilities.

It's interesting that I happened to drive by a Zen meditation center near my home last week. Now I have a chance to practice Zen meditation before spending time at the monastery. I love how my plans are put into the proper sequence by the Universe.
