Patience, Persistence, Positivity

Isn’t interesting how just a few words can sum up the essence of a life filled of love and happiness?  I’ve heard that "patience is a virtue" my whole life, and I grew up reciting pledges about honor and integrity during my Tae Kwon Do training…little did I know it would take me a full decade to grasp the importance of patience, persistence, and positivity in my life.

Fast forward to 2011…I am living in the town of my dreams, my career is beginning to take off, I am partnering with other passionate entrepreneurs and collaborating with talented musicians…the best part is that I ended up here on a "whim" (or so it would seem).

Summer 2010 was certainly one of the most life-changing experiences I’ve ever had…I’ll spare the details (they could span a few blog entries), but I ended up meeting someone very special who it turned out would alter the course of my life indelibly.

An unfortunate series of events put me in a situation where I had to move over 1,000 miles away…after only one month of us being together!  Needless to say, both myself and my girlfriend were very taken aback…we had a matter of days to gather our thoughts and to say our goodbyes…

It was in this state of confusion and desperation for something to hold on to, something greater than the circumstances that seemed to be dominating our lives…that’s when I first came across The Secret.  Many people have heard of this widespread phenomenon based around the Law of Attraction, and in this vital moment in our lives it gave both of us hope that we could control everything that was going on around us…even though all evidence pointed to the contrary.

If I had been in the same situation 2 or 3 years ago…I would have simply walked away, pushed the pain aside and moved forward to my life.  Instead I chose to be vulnerable, to stand in blatant defiance of circumstance in the name of Love, and because of that I am where I am today.

Both myself and my girlfriend spent the next 4 months deliberately practicing and meditating upon thoughts of our life together…

I was fortunately able to visit over the Thanksgiving holidays…I had never really heard much about her hometown of Pittsburgh…but I had such a great experience, and ended up meeting some great people (whom I am currently working with!)…I decided I would move here.  By this time I was pretty familiar with the intent process, and I knew what I wanted.  I set my intent to move to Pittsburgh by Christmas…I was here by Dec. 15!  It only took 3 weeks to find an apartment, set up a job, schedule studio time, pack my things, and drive across the country from Texas!

Intention is a very powerful thing, but there is no motivator like Love.  In my situation, the intent would not have had nearly as much power, and would not have manifested as powerfully without Love to fuel it and guide me along the way.

We can only truly achieve anything through deliberate patience, persistence, and positivity…whether it be development of talent, the flourishing of a relationship, or the life of our dreams.

This is by no means the "happily ever after" of my journey…rather it is only the very beginning of a new life for me.  I am excited for the future and I continue to practice Gratitude every day for all that I have been given.  I try my best to be a positive influence on others and to put my whole self into my craft of music, more specifically singing, songwriting, and performing.
