You know yoga has made it into the mainstream when the Prince of Wales is caught doing tree pose in public places.
According to The Daily Mail, Prince Charles recently opened a $27.3 million complex at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (MRC) for wounded service men and women — and yoga is a major part of the curriculum. This past week, the prince and his wife Camilla took a tour of the facility and joined patients for a yoga class.
In the picture above, shared by our friends at YogaDork, amputee Marine Chay Coulbert is showing the prince how to do a proper Tree Pose.
Prince Charles’ youngest son Harry is currently serving his second tour of duty in Afghanistan, so making sure that adequate care is available to returning soldiers is particularly significant for him personally. Discussing his reasons for opening the complex, Prince Charles said, “Often people don’t hear about the number of people who are wounded on a daily basis in Afghanistan… It makes me feel incredibly small and humble, what they have been through, what they go on to do and the inspiration they provide to others.”
KUDOS, your highness. We hope to see Barack Obama and Mitt Romney practicing alongside returning American soliders soon too!
