Recognizing Time Wasters

I often wonder why I don’t get to read more, or have time to exercise, finish up half-completed projects, meditate, hold a meaningful converstaion with my spouse, and so on.  I know that it’s because I have the learned habit of turning on the TV and getting lost in mind-numbing programming.

I want to accomplish so many things in the precious time that I have away from work, yet there I sit, staring at the box.

So, tonight I made a decision.  No more mindless TV watching.  I will set aside some time for a few select shows, but that’s it – and then the TV goes off and I can nurture other aspects of my life.

I have 4 books to read, three half-completed projects to finish and a wonderful partner to converse with (when work schedules find us home at the same time).

It’s not a new year’s resolution, becuase those always fail.  It’s part of the new life I want to create for myself.  To be healthier, to nurture my soul, and to live life – not wonder where it went.
