Recovery From Addiction And Being Your Authentic Self

You may be thinking that your road to recovery from alcohol or drug addiction is going to be challenging but that there will never be a misstep, never a mistake and never a slip back into a behavior pattern that you are working to leave behind. While envisioning yourself as a sober, happy and successful person is essential it is also import to be able to see yourself as a real person. In my book “The Law of Sobriety” I call this your authentic self. Seeing yourself as the wonderful, spiritual and connected person to the world around you is a key element in grounding yourself when things don’t always seem to go your way.

Finding your authentic self isn’t as simple as looking in the mirror the next time you are getting ready for work in the morning. It is about discovering your spirituality and your connectiveness to the world around you and an ability to interact with the life energy that surrounds you. For some people this is done through religious practices, for others it may be through spending time in nature and for others it may be through yoga, meditation or mind-body types of exercise.

Recovery means looking at yourself and your unique and precious place in the world. By tapping into that positive energy through spirituality and an authentic self awakening you will see opportunities you never new existed. A place to use your unique gifts, to expand your sphere of influence and to truly find a place where you are happy, content and open to all that the world provides. This path isn’t without mistakes and it often isn’t a direct route. However, if you know who you really are you can release the negative thoughts and behaviors when you make a mistake and continue to see yourself making strides forward
