Responsibility

One of the things which interests me, is the way we humans are so intent on taking responsibility for other people’s emotional well-being.

We delay making the changes in our lives we know we need and want, because we imagine our loved ones will be devastated and destroyed. So instead of giving them the chance to grow and change, we sabotage our own growth.

Now is this protecting ourselves from emotional fall-out? Is it a passive/aggressive martyr thing? Is it a misguided but essentially well-meaning desire not to hurt anyone? And for those on a spiritual path it can be from a belief that it is their duty not to cause ripples, make someone uncomfortable or follow our own ‘selfish’ desires.

One of the hardest realisations but also one of the most rewarding is that we aren’t responsible for anyone else’s emotional well-being or any of their reactions to anything we do.

This isn’t a license to deliberately cause pain, but a truth – that we cannot control (nor should we seek to) what another person does or thinks.

About 7th Space

I own and run 7th Space in Edinburgh, Scotland with my daughter, Emma Turner.

We are both Theta Healing practitioners and in addition Emma is a Soul Guidance Healer.  We hold one-to-one sessions with clients - in person or through Skype and also we've developed Workshops, such as Find Your Soul Mate and  energetic Space Clearing.

For much more info about Theta Healing and 7th Space please go to www.7thspace.co.uk

When I'm not meeting clients I love long walks on the beach, playing with my granddaughters and having traditional afternoon tea.

I don’t believe that we grow through hardship and testing, that we are more ‘grown -up’ because we don’t laugh much anymore and because we have put away the childish dreams which filled us with creative fire and deep content when we were young.

I absolutely reject the belief that illness and disease and pain are lessons which punish us because we are not good enough, or which we manifest into our lives because we aren’t spiritual enough, or even that they are the natural result of growing old and being human.

I don’t believe that the world is only full of greed and hatred and disempowerment. I don’t believe that big business, politics and war are the ultimate power and that they rule our lives.

I believe in an intelligent Universe which is naturally benign and creative. I believe in our human spirit which can soar like a hawk, seeing infinite possibilities - inventing, nurturing, expanding.

I believe in the vibrant health of our bodies and emotions - in the possibility of greeting each day from a place of gladness and wonder.

I believe in sparkles on the water, fresh coffee brewing, bluebells in a wood, cool mountain air, and Love. Especially Love. I believe the more Love we spend, the richer we grow.

Thank you Susan. I often see the weight people carry on their Psychic Shoulders, and it feels like the weight of the world! When we take it off, our wings stretch and we can fly! Light and Love.

Thank you Maria, so true and once we experience our wings stretching, we seek out chances to fly!

Responsibility

This is the twenty-seventh day of the forty day prosperity plan from John Randolph Price’s   The Abundance Book  . We are at the half way mark and it has been a powerful journey so far. This is a wonderful tool for developing prosperity consciousness. I hope you have picked up a copy and are following along. What I am recording here are my daily meditations and insights on the ten statements. I invite you to continue with me.

Releasing responsibility seems a radical anti-social idea. It sounds as though I’m being irresponsible, lazy or passive and our culture looks down on people who seem to have these qualities. We praise and reward the go-getters and high achievers. I had a lot of difficulty with statement seven. It sounds good on paper but what does releasing responsibility for my life actually mean? Does it mean I stop working and striving to provide for myself and my family? Do I stop reaching for higher goals and greater achievements? And the answer is yes.

“I let the Spirit take care of the Universe and my affairs while I release all responsibility and I am at Peace.” ~ Ernest Holmes

First, I think there’s a difference between learning to act in good conscious with awareness of the consequences of my behavior and the burden I often place on myself to be responsible (guilty?) for the progress or lack of progress I perceive in my life. That “I’ve got to pull myself up by my boot straps” mentality always leaves me feeling isolated and inadequate. Much of this has to do with having learned to measure myself against the success or achievements of others. I find that the more I let go of trying to compare myself with anyone else the more peace floods into my life. The Truth is that as a Beloved Child of the Universe, it is the Universe’s responsibility to provide everything that is required for me to express all of the gifts and abilities I was brought into this world to express. As I align my thoughts with this Truth and let go of the effort to meet my needs they are met.
