Me Me Me Me Me…..is this a vocalization, or a way of describing the egocentric mood that all of us are capable of?
Sometimes it is interesting to listen to others and realize how self-centered they are. But the real challenge is for each one of us to listen to ourselves and see how self-centered we are. THAT is not an easy task for any of us.
Naturally we each see the world from our own perspective, the world becomes the way WE see it. But if we are able to rise above our own individual ideas: if we are able to rise above our own personalities, and realize that not everyone sees things the way we do, then perhaps we begin to see beyond our own noses, and start to have an understanding of others.
Everybody thinks they are right: they know how the world should be and how everyone should act. And as we rise above all of the opinions, we find that they are simply perspectives and viewpoints. AND all of these ideas are in our minds. We have as a human race, created all these ideas and perspectives.
It goes without saying that being able to see and understand the perspectives of others does not mean we have to agree with others or do everything they want us to do. But if the world is to ever get along, we do need to understand others.
It is only if we can realize that we do not all think the same way, that we can begin to get along with our families, our neighbors and our co-workers. It is only when people around the world start to appreciate different points of view, that we can think about moving towards peace.
