Some of my poetry, putting some more out there

Losing Mama

by Robin Halliday

The boxes were stacked
all in neat little rows.
The memories they had caused?
Only Mama would know.

Why the bent bottle cap?
And the picture of snow?
How can I find out?
Only Mama would know.

Do I share, or keep it all,
or do I just let it all go?
What do I throw away?
Only Mama would know.

Did I do it all right?
Was I strong, did it show?
You probably never noticed,
only Mama would know.

Upheaval

by Robin Halliday

Fate tossed and what if rolled,
trying to find their own place.
Vanity luxuriated in the nothing,
taking up way too much coveted space.

Ego shivered and pain cried deep,
trying to get away from it all.
Fear quietly hid and ire reared up,
the green-eyed monster ran down the hall.

Happiness smiled and love glowed,
ignorant of all that was amiss.
One might suppose it’s all perception,
of what is, and what may never be, bliss.

Wastelands

by Robin Halliday

The Gods broke down today,
the situation got the best of them.
The world below, they so loved,
had been cast aside, condemned.

They shook their regal heads,
and turned away in sorrow,
from a land that forgot today,
with no thought of a tomorrow.

Human disdain, and lack of concern,
the Gods could just not comprehend;
how had they created something,
that willingly contributes to its own end?

The land of the free, and the home of the brave,
had lost any and all of its definition.
We have each been sentenced to a lifetime,
and we serve it with no conviction.

A blanket of tears, cover the earth,
cried by the makers of mortal men;
with heavy hearts and weary souls,
they watch as we embrace ‘the end’.

Goodness girl! Thank you for sharing your voice. Losing Mama brings back memories of getting Sean's belongings. That is exactly it. Exactly.
