Sugar Blues!!!

The holidays can always be a challenging time for us to honor our bodies by feeding them nutrient rich foods. Consuming sugar and processed carbohydrates can leave you in a vicious blood sugar handling crisis as we move into 2009!!! If you are one of the many people with pre-existing digestive problems, it doesn’t take much to leave you bloated, constipated, and miserable.

You can get back on track by eating small meals every 3 hours. Your food choices should consist of organic vegetables, organic proteins, raw soaked nuts and seeds, and high quality fats (raw butter, coconut oil, cold-pressed olive oil, or ghee etc.) Starchy carbohydrates and sugar should be avoided.

Another great way to kick your sugar cravings and build up your immune system is by adding Young Coconut Kefir and Raw Cultured Vegetables. These are cultured foods that contain an abundant amount of probiotics (healthy bacteria, mainly located in our digestive track). Ideally we should have 80% beneficial bacteria and only 20% bad bacteria living in our gut. However, medications, sugar, processed foods, drugs, alcohol, and birth control pills easily disrupt this delicate ecosystem existing inside each of us. By adding cultured foods to your diet on a daily basis you will be able to create a balanced healthy digestive track. Check out my site: www.healingmovement.net
