From Intent.com: Inspiration

Intent.com is some of my favorite inspirations: people who are moving and shaking, trying and risking.
They are experts at giving inspiration and receiving it.

It’s Tuesday, you have most of the week ahead of you and maybe you’re needing a spark to make it through, so why not take a minute to share some of my favorites:

What are your words of inspiration?
Photos? Movies? Songs?
What opportunities are you needing some extra spark to push through?
What spark do you have to provide?

From Intent.com: A Work of Art

My friends and I used to have an Art Club. We would get together and work on crafts and eat snacks. As I typed that last sentence, I couldn’t imagine a get-together that sounded more girly, but alas, it was. Art Club is home to some of my fondest memories, but it was also a surprisingly polarizing experience. Some people don’t consider themselves artists. If you’re not creative, what are you? If you have no imagination, what are you thinking about?

My argument (which has been added to greatly by some really great authors and speakers) is that all humans have the capacity of creativity. Whether you’re a painter or a small business owner, you know it requires imagination, even if your job involves numbers. We invent. We create. We process how we feel and where we’re going through those acts.

I wanted to take a minute to give a shout out to yet another Intent user, BeachGirl.
Along with her intents, comments and updates, she shares beautiful original artwork inspired by not only her intentions, but also her back yard and it’s inhabitants.

If you want to cement your intention for yourself and for others, find a way to make it tangible.

Drawing is just another way to do that!
Maybe you journal.
Maybe you decide to keep some sort of visual reminder of your commitments.
Maybe you create and stick to a schedule.

Whatever you choose, I say find a way to give life to your intentions.
So what will be your medium?
Canvas or graph paper?
It all works. Make it come alive!

Wordplay Wednesday: Empowerment

GirlLaughingYoga-850x567Every moment of your life is an opportunity to live fully and to love boldly.

Your heart is your paintbrush.

Your life is your canvas.

You are an artist.

Art is not simply something in a museum.

Your art is your life.

What could you do?

What will you create?

Who would you be?

If you no longer let your fear, your past or your limitations stop you?

At any moment you can create magic. At any moment you can do something different from what you have done in the past. Never having done it before is no excuse to not do it now.

You were born for greatness!

There are dreams dancing within your soul for a reason. Your dreams are the way that life seeks to manifest itself in form.

Real heroes aren’t angels in the sky, floating amidst cotton candy clouds.

Real heroes don’t need to climb Mt. Everest, jump from planes or walk on hot coals to prove their strength.

Real heroes aren’t necessarily named Kobe or Cruise. They don’t run from life in order to find peace.

Real heroes deal. They know how to take responsibility for their lives, regardless of what has happened in the past.

Real heroes are those who have the courage to love, laugh and live fully, despite all of life’s challenges.

Real heroes are those who dare to live larger than what scares them, and live life with an open heart.

I acknowledge YOU because it takes courage to be alive and to be who you really are in this world.

So:

Blaze your own trail.

Dare ecstasy.

Defy gravity.

Transcend the past.

There are no refunds in life. It’s over before you know it. Live each moment fully with no regrets.

Remember, it’s not the risk you didn’t take.

It’s the love that you dared to make that is the difference.

No ones coming.

Not the government.

Not your parents.

Not some hero from the sky.

Because you are already here.

The world is waiting.

For you.

The time is NOW.

You are IT!

So don’t compromise your heart no matter what.

Dare to create a life that’s a masterpiece!

Love.Now

Kick Tush Tuesday: Weight Loss Through Creativity

sunskayThis morning, while taking a long walk through the desert (yes, this is the desert; no, I wasn’t walking the Sahara) with Our Lady of Weight Loss by my side (always), she and I were (once gain) discussing the difference between trying to control the day, control our lives, control what we eat and creating a kick tush day. That’s right–the difference between control and create–and it became abundantly clear that the answer to our struggles is to not struggle.

Ohhhh…I like that: The Answer to Our Struggles is to NOT Struggle! Simple enough. How to do that? How to put a new spin on the topic, create a fresh take? Explore the words “control” and “create”! Ready? Okay!

The word: Control

According to Webster’s dictionary control means to exercise restraint; to hold in check; curb; to eliminate or present the flourishing or spread of.

I don’t know about you, but when I look at those words, especially “exercise constraint” – I’m like ‘get me outta’ here.  It sounds restrictive and feels exhausting. My world view starts to close in on me. Did you have a similar visceral reaction to the word ‘control?’

The words we use are important and if one doesn’t ‘fit’ our psyche, best we look for a new word, a new experience, a new way to frame and reframe. Create a new empowering perspective!

Rather than trying to control food, control our habits, control our thoughts and ourselves; let’s look at the word create.

The Word: Create

From Webster’s Dictionary, “create” means to bring into existence. (God created the heaven and the earth. — Genesis 1:12) To produce or bring about by a course of action or behavior to make or bring into existence something new. Wow!

Doesn’t the word create feel expansive? Doesn’t it sound like we are more likely to succeed if we move out of control and straight into create? Can you feel the door to infinite possibility opening? (I hear creaking noises; does it need to be oiled?)

Control vs. Create

Control = constrictive, limiting
Create = expansive, limitless

INTENT of the DAY:  Instead of battling control, let’s CREATE! Today, let’s choose to be CREATORS. Let’s open up to the possibilities and create a fun-filled, fabulous, healthful day!

I am that I am

I-am

This is me up there. Yes, that is what I Am. I talk with nature. Trees teach me how to be alive on Earth, and rocks, and big cats. I received a lesson from a panther only a few days ago, it taught me how to be present and not collapse when I am surrounded by people. It was a valuable lesson at the time, especially given my limited experience with human interactions. I do not look for those.

It is not that I don’t enjoy them, at a certain level, but they are not as fulfilling, not as open as relationships with nature. Human interactions require words and concepts. I find words and concepts limited and shallow.

I do not believe that the mind is the be-all and end-all of human perception. I find the mind to be pitifully small and constricted, utterly unable to comprehend reality. I am not my mind.

I am my body and my life and the world and by feeling it, by being present with it, I shift it, I affect it, I redesign it. I clean up the trauma that causes sickness to heal my body. I do not require medication to deal with sickness, pain or  inflammation. I bring myself up from a collapse to allow my life to flow smoothly when there are problems or lack of any sort. I do not require marketing to attract clients or money.

I enjoy the idea of dying one day. It will be a spectacular adventure and I am looking forward to it. Because I know what I am. And I remember when I chose to be born. I know why I chose it, and I know why I was born to my parents. I know that I did not begin with this birth and I will not end with this coming death. I know that I have no beginning nor ending at all.

I do not mind pain nor fear, I experience it as a natural element of growing in places where I need to grow.

I do not believe that there is such a thing as a tragedy. I do not believe there is such a thing as wrong, evil, bad, nor do I believe there is good nor right.

I do believe that values, moralities, ethics are nothing more than stories created by human minds to manage trauma.

I do not believe that anyone deserves or doesn’t deserve anything. I do not believe that anyone is entitled to anything. I believe that I create my own experience. I believe that everyone creates their own experience.

All of it.

This is me. This is what I am.

This is what I am hiding. This is what I have been hiding since I was a little child because, even when what I was was not clear to me, I could feel what I wasn’t. This awareness caused pain when I was a girl wanting to fit in. This awareness caused a discomfort when I was a young woman wanting to belong. This awareness caused great joy once I grew into myself, but the pain is still there. Scars left by the fear of rejection tighten my skin still, become inflamed when rubbed.

It got rubbed during the last few days. The scars got rubbed until they throbbed with pain, and the pain brought out the childish misery and that, in turn, brought out the rebellion. And anger.

“I will not hide anymore,” I thought.

I am not yet entirely recovered. The scars, mostly gone, left raw flesh in their wake. It itches still and so I am not as gentle, as gracious and considerate as I might be. And so I write in this way. Clearly, openly and straightforwardly.

And yes, it scares me, but the fear does not bother me. The fear is simply a natural element of me growing in this place where I was afraid, where I am afraid, to own myself fully.

In this place where I am that I am.

You Create

creator

It began with tension. Tension contrasted with the utter peacefulness of a summer evening. It was when I noticed it first.

It was such a beautiful evening, balmy and fresh after a hot, summer day, pink and blue with golden highlights, and filled to bursting with the forest scents and grassy aromas. It was so quiet, so peaceful — but I wasn’t. That was when I noticed it. That was why I noticed it. The tension, the … tightness.

And I thought I was doing so well! I was pulling myself up from my traumas and dramas, I was getting back to my art and to my work, I was making an effort, I was doing stuff again, I even made a list and created a schedule (a tentative one), I was doing, I was doing, I was busy … and it all seemed so silly suddenly. The busyness, the schedule, the doing. It was supposed to be a remedy for not-doing anything, which was bad but … it seemed so silly.

Because it was never the problem, I realized. Doing nothing was never the problem. Reading books all day or hanging out on Facebook, avoiding my art and abandoning my projects — that was never a problem. Doing, doing, doing would never be a solution.

I lost my presence. That was the problem.

I allowed myself to become unconscious, I allowed my life to slip out of focus, I allowed my vision to become fuzzy. Doing things, schedules, plans, objectives and accomplishments were supposed to fix that problem for me, but they did not bring presence with them. They only brought busyness. They brought movement, bustle, hustle, doing. Lots of doing. And tension. There was no presence in all this activity. There was no presence in tension.

Presence was in the peacefulness of last night. As I walked my dogs in the midst of gathering dusk, through the splendid silence of nature around me, there was presence there and I became clear, yet again, that it is lack of presence that is the problem, and it is presence that is the solution.

Presence.

Not doing, making, bustling and hustling, but presence. Presence as what I am, as my life, right now. Presence that transcends doing. Presence that renders doing obsolete because it, by the virtue of simply being, creates. Creates reality. Creates life. Spontaneously and effortlessly creates — everything.

That is one thing worth doing, I thought to myself last night, working on being present.

The Importance of Living With Passion

Living with passion gives meaning to ones life.

To be passionate means to live from your center, from your heart and your soul. Because the term evokes different emotions in different people — excitement, meaning, love, commitment, enthusiasm, delight, fervor, wild abandon — before we can integrate passion into our lives, we first need to know what stirs it in us.

It doesn’t mean you have to love everything you do but to have at least one driving force that keeps you going. Something to look forward to.

When you’re passionate about what you do, you can’t wait to get out of bed each morning and start your day.Work really can be that way, like play, not drudgery that we drag ourselves off to and count the minutes until we can be released from the torture we’ve endured.

When you love what you do for work, to earn a living, then every day becomes exciting and a new adventure! You can work for hours and it feels like minutes. The time really does fly when you’re having fun.You know when you’re doing what you love when you’d keep on doing it even if you didn’t get paid. Usually when you love what you do the money follows.
There’s a book by Marsha Sinetar called Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow.

Some say that we should make the best of any situation and our attitude is what matters.
I agree and I also believe if we all followed our passion and were true to ourselves then we wouldn’t have to try to make the best out of the situation…it would be the best situation!

A world full of people following their bliss would be a world full of happier people.

There’s a reason we like doing what we’re passionate about. It’s the souls way of saying what your life purpose is, it’s your self expression. We all have something to contribute, something we’re good at.

What are YOU good at? What are YOU passionate about?
The people that I see enjoying their lives the most, are those that have created MORE of what they love in their everyday lives and LESS of what they don’t enjoy.

Live by intention

“What can you do today that would create real fulfillment of the purpose you know is yours? Take a deep breath, feel the immense power of your intention, and do it.

How can you bring your own unique beauty and perspective to this moment and to the circumstances in which you find yourself? With a joyous, generous heart, give that beauty expression in your actions right now.

Put the special, one-of-a-kind beauty of who you are into practice here, now and always. Fill your days with the value and satisfaction of authentic living.

Live by intention, from the inside out. Do, say and be what you know is truly you.”
