The term “FOMO” has become a real thing for my generation.
It’s been defined as the “fear of missing out”. I think it’s safe to say we can always assume there’s something we’re missing out on, we can’t be everywhere all the time, but never before have we had such a visual reminder of all those things. Social media makes it really easy to see just how green the grass is on the other side. Continue reading
Intent.com is some of my favorite inspirations: people who are moving and shaking, trying and risking.
They are experts at giving inspiration and receiving it.
It’s Tuesday, you have most of the week ahead of you and maybe you’re needing a spark to make it through, so why not take a minute to share some of my favorites:
What are your words of inspiration?
Photos? Movies? Songs?
What opportunities are you needing some extra spark to push through?
What spark do you have to provide?
There’s a really wonderful song by a group called Gungor.
The chorus says:
“You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust.
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us.”
There’s so much hope in those lyrics. There’s something about knowing that growth can happen out of dust. It means it’s not too late. That in whatever destruction our lives have seen, there is still space for something beautiful to grow out of it.
It’s no surprise that around the end of the year, so many people are reflecting on where they’ve been and where they’d like to go.
Being different takes time and bravery.
Sometimes your growing things out of dust and sometimes it feels like you’re getting nowhere, but if you plant the seeds, you’re further ahead than you might think. Because hope has a way of springing up.
So what would you like to see change in your life?
What have you been waiting on?
What would you hope to be at this time next year?
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found in You.”
-“Beautiful Things”, Gungor
I would summarize our suggested meta-narratives as simple, universal truths:
1. Maturing Species: "Grow Up!"
2. Evolving Consciousness: "Wake Up!"
3. Hero’s Journey: "Transform and Reconnect"
4. Identity: "You have Both a Biological and Cosmic Nature"
5. Humanity’s Journey: "We are Learning to Live in a Living Universe."
6. Birth Metaphor: "Our Species is in the Crisis of Birth"

Tired of the same old… well,
Learn something – anything! Visit a bookstore or library, visit a museum or gallery, listen to books on tape while you drive, you can learn a new language while you “waste” time in traffic!
Get involved! Support local arts, groups, programs, culture – review community event postings in the paper for ideas. Maybe there is a bake sale, a 5K run or art in the park, stroll the streets looking for something new.
Exercise! Get your blood pumping – go outside for a walk, garden, or even simply stretch – whatever you choose just do it under the sunny sky and breathe in the fresh air!
Just do it! Expand your skill set and pursue that interest – register for that class you have been considering, jump in, no more excuses! Even simply try a new recipe today!
Slow down! Instead of rushing inside when you get home talk to your neighbours. Greet the people you meet during the day – why rush home when there is so much to experience if we linger just a little and get out of our routine.
Enjoy the weekend! & Embrace Your Life!
