Over and over we’ve found ourselves in the same place. Maybe that place is one of positivity and abundance. We’re surrounded by wise and kind people who lift us up and support us. Perhaps it’s the opposite. We continue to find ourselves in the same mess. We’re repeating patterns that have existed longer than we can remember and the hard part is imagining a life where they aren’t a part of us.
Are some of us just lucky? And does it mean there is no hope if we’re one of the unfortunate folks who pulled the short straw of struggle?
We believe that with focus, intent and genuine desire, a pattern is something that can be overcome if it is destructive. We believe that sometimes, before you can move forward, you have to deal with the past accurately and honestly. This can mean seeking or offering forgiveness. This can mean shining a light on dark corners we had long accepted as forgotten. This can mean voicing feelings and truth we didn’t even know existed.
But we’re ready for a different future so today our intent is to be healed from the past.

Healing comes in many forms. In medication. In nature. With time and space. Today we explore the healing that comes from the words we receive and speak. As a culture, we’ve come to understand that words can harm. Telling a child that they’ll never grow up to be anything can have lasting implications and we can understand that correlation. But we don’t alway think about using our words with intention for positivity and healing. We don’t always consider how much we say that has no real nutritional value.

Every new years resolution list comes with some note on our health.
We want to lose 10 pounds.
We want to be able to run a mile without stopping.
We want to take that hiking trip and train all summer to prepare.
Those are awesome goals and we encourage you to make them but we also want to encourage those goals not to fall flat. To do that, start by setting small intents along the way that will promote reaching those dreams. If you’re wanting to run a mile, perhaps an app like Couch to 5k which does increasing interval training alternating between walking and running is something to download and start using everyday. Perhaps on your way to losing 10 pound, you set smaller intents for drinking water, getting rest and cutting down on sugar. So our intent today? It’s to create habits for health that will become the groundwork for bigger and bolder intents!

Resting can sounds like weakness. Those who really have what it takes never have to stop, right? In Western culture, we are taught the value of working harder and longer. It seems, as a result, we have forgotten the importance of resting. When we think we should keep going, remember that we are biologically wired to have need downtime. In challenging times, it is easy to wander and disconnect from our heart. Fear, sadness and anxiety can very easily become dissonant notes in the song of our life as we become immersed in the news of senseless killings, terrorism and political unrest. Within your heart there is still love, compassion, kindness, passion and purpose. Words cannot explain what most of us are feeling at this time in history. There is another language that strikes a deeper chord and has the ability to guide us home to our hearts to access our true potential. The Language is music…. Music restarts the important dialogue between our conscious mind and our intuitive heart and can provide rejuvenation, inner peace and inspiration. In these challenging times we have the ability to compose our selves, regroup and orchestrate beauty in our life. We are resilient and have the ability to orchestrate a better world. She didn’t know anyone whose marriage had survived separation, but here it was, staring her straight in the face. The woman, we’ll call her Wendy, had only been married a few short years but it was obvious that things were getting stale.
He wanted out. Separation. Relationship halt.
She didn’t see that coming. Aside from things being stale in their young marriage, there wasn’t anything major going on. No affairs or big fights. Nothing that would indicate that her husband was particularly unhappy with her. So when he wanted to move into another apartment, she was in shock. Now what?
When married couples contemplate such a move, it can be scary. Being separate typically means there are big problems, and big problems can lead to divorce. Separation just prolongs the questions. Will this work out? Will we find our way back to each other again?
Wendy kept their separation a secret save for a few who were closest to her. Mostly, she cried alone at her house, or at her desk at work. She cried a lot. Likely she thought about all the things she should have done while they still lived together. Regrets loomed.

My lifestyle is all about clean eating; enjoying fresh, whole and organic foods – not processed foods with ingredients you can’t pronounce. It’s about eating what makes you feel good. It’s not about eating bowls of kale every day because you’ve heard it’s good for you. And it’s not about being skinny. That’s not what being healthy is about. Being healthy IS about balance and happiness. I don’t put a label on myself; I’m not vegan or vegetarian or paleo. I eat what my body wants and what feels good, obviously steering clear of processed foods and incorporating lots of healthy fats in every meal along with protein and fiber. I eat clean because of my chronic health story and because my body reacts severely if I accidentally eat foods that don’t agree with me such as gluten, dairy, sugar and soy. When I removed these foods and starting eating organic, I felt amazing. It’s incredible what happens and how your perspective on life changes when you go through such a traumatic health experience alone.
