Find Yourself

look-you

It really bothered me. It really, really did.

This link a man sent me, to a blog. The blog was about enlightenment. It described it in detail. It described the shift, it described the reality after the shift. It described the world and it described life. Perfectly, precisely, accurately.

This man, this man who wrote this blog was, is enlightened – or at least he is what is called enlightened though, of course, it looks nothing like what enlightenment is supposed to look like. But he is here, he is present, he sees reality clearly and … he still does not see himself.

And this bothered me. It really did.

Seeing the reality he does not see himself as reality, seeing life precisely, distinctly, he does not see himself as life. Looking at God he does not recognize himself.

And that bothers me.

Why?

Because of the sense of pointlessness, because of the emptiness and a quiet desperation with which this man speaks. Because of the helpless, ineffectual existence he spends observing the dance of creations resolving before his eyes. This is how he spoke and this is how I felt. This is how it feels to not know yourself for what you are, even though, or especially when the ego is gone, and the mind. This is how it feels to be in-between spaces, between the person made of limits, stories and separations and the being that is unlimited, boundless. This is how it feels to be between the person who endures and survives creation, and the being that creates reality.

This is how it feels. Empty, pointless, useless.

And it bothered me. It bothered me that this man who saw so clearly that he is no man, did not see all the way to what he is though … ah, but maybe that is what he is, you might say. Maybe he is nothing. Maybe there is nothing more to see. Maybe he does not exist, maybe there is no him, maybe there is no me and my reaction is the mind objecting to that truth?

And maybe you are right. Maybe I do not exist indeed, but — here is what I have to say to that: when I am what I am there is boundless happiness and unlimited bliss. This is how truth feels. This is how reality feels.

Emptiness, pointlessness and uselessness … that is not me. That is not the reality. That is not the truth.

Deepak Chopra: How to Move Beyond the Ego

In this episode of “Ask Deepak” on The Chopra Well, Deepak explores the meaning and role of the ego in our consciousness. Is it good or bad? Does it help us or hinder us?

The ego is our self-image, not our true self. It is characterized by labels, masks, images, and judgements. The true self is the field of possibilities, creativity, intentions, and power. We can go beyond the ego through self awareness – awareness of our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and speech. Thus we begin to slowly move beyond the ego to the true self. Deepak reads a beautiful poem by Rabindranath Tagore, entitled “Who is this?” which describes the ego as “my own small self.” Can you go beyond your own small self, your ego, to discover your true self?

Deepak Chopra: Are You Addicted?

In this episode of “The Rabbit Hole” on The Chopra Well, Deepak Chopra explores the relationships between addiction, health, and the search for higher consciousness. There are many different forms of addictions, from drug addiction, to thrill-seeking, to clinging to toxic relationships. Some seek adventure, others security, pleasure, numbing, or energy. In any case, as Deepak relays, an addiction entails not getting enough of something you really don’t need in the first place.

Do you notice any addictive patterns in your own life?

By bringing attention to our own dependence on certain substances and sensations we may begin to extricate ourselves from these unhealthy patterns. Setting an intent for real growth and healing is the perfect place to start.

Setting Intents 101: Ten Intentions for Higher Consciousness

  1. I intend to manifest a world where war is a fictional concept than reality.
  2. I intend to choose respond over reactions.
  3. I intend to witness God in everything and everywhere.
  4. I intend to live a life of example.
  5. I intend to receive abundance from known and unknown sources.
  6. I intend to take myself lightly.
  7. I intend to forgive myself and others.
  8. I intend to practice unconditional love.
  9. I intend to make meditation part of my lifestyle.
  10. I intend to make someone smile today.

How to use intention in your meditation?
Start your meditation with a few deep breathes and silently observe the stillness within. Thereafter, bring your awareness to your heart and choose your intention. Now, simply observe the movement of breath in and out. Continue to let go off all the grudges and suppressed emotions. Don’t identify your thoughts with yourself. Witnessing the activity of mind is the best thing you can do during meditation. In the end, take few moments to be grateful for the intention you chose. Stick to one intention for few days before quickly moving on to the next one.

The Art of Intention
Your intention is the driving force in your consciousness. Setting an intention is almost equivalent to creating a map of where you wish to go. Without having an intention, you are on a road with no destination; however you cannot create it forcefully. It’s a seed that you sow, and you must let it reap on its own. You cannot force your mind to create an intention that you don’t believe in at all. If done forcefully, the purpose intention is ruined.

In the ancient Eastern ritual Yagna, the scholars performing the Yagna always ask the Yajmaan, the person for whom Yagna is being performed, for the Sankalpa, or the intention announcement, behind doing the Yagna. All the ancient Eastern rituals set emphasis to the Sankalpa before they initiate any new step. Be it a Yagna for personal growth, marriage or to attain spiritual powers, the Sankalapa must be prepared very carefully. Advanced scholars often boast about their proficiency in completing the Sankalapa for a Yagna. People who are familiar with science of Yagna always look for experts in the Sankalapa field although it lasts for just a minute, while the rest of Yagna takes an hour or more. Consider your intention as a modern version of the Sankalapa. You need to be well versed in it!

Let’s review some important points about your intentions:

1. Positive Intention: Make sure the intention is set in positive words. For example, if your intention is to remove stress, then say something like, “My intention is to invite peace and calmness within myself with today’s meditation” rather than saying, “My intention is to fight stress with today’s meditation.” Avoid using any negative words. The chosen intention should be positive, uplifting and always in the present tense.

2. Keep Evolving Your Intention: Our minds are very clever. Whenever we bring something new to it, the first reaction is always one of surprise. As time goes along, the mind stops paying attention to the new entrant. A perfect example of this occurs when we walk into a fragrant room — we sense the odor immediately, but after few minutes we don’t sense the smell at all. Likewise, when we drive a new route, we pay attention to even smaller details, but after couple of rounds there, we start driving with no conscious effort. The same can happen with your intention. If you stick with the same intention for weeks upon weeks, your mind will stop responding to it. The best way to address this challenge is to keep evolving your intention or goal. For instance, if your intention on the first day is to invite peace and calmness after few days, you may change your intention to “My intention is enjoy the peace I create in myself.” Please be advised not to change your intention or goals constantly. Instead, keep on polishing and enhancing it.

3. Short -Term Intention: It’s considered more practical to set an intention for a short-term goal rather than a long-term one. The best practice is to divide your long-term intention into few shorter intentions. This will help you achieve a grandiose goal in more powerful segments. For example, if your intention behind the meditation is to become specialized in your profession, then see the steps involved in specializing in your field. The first few steps might be to obtain good grades in prerequisite exams. Then, you may need to land a leveraging internship for experience. Finally, after successfully manifesting your short-term intentions, you will reach the actual goal that you had nurtured in the beginning.

Winning Back The Future: Here’s How! – Part 2

In the first post, the question was raised whether a better future can be imagined out of the dire situation we find ourselves in.  At the present moment we rely on science to answer our deepest questions. But science isn’t the only way to ask who we are and what we want from life. It’s part of the human design to want freedom, and yet freedom cannot exist when you must waste energy on fear, anger, tension, insecurity, and stress – all the natural ingredients of living behind fences.

If you want to get beyond these negative aspects, it’s a delusion to believe that fences must exist.   Yet we all believe exactly that. Fences are erected first in the mind, and everyone’s mind is compartmentalized. We shut out what we fear or don’t understand. We shut out “them,” the people who are unlike “us.” We shut out the unknown – a vast, one might say infinite domain – and we even shut out the parts of ourselves we don’t want to look at.  All of this fence building is delusional, however.  The answer to all our fear and stress, our anger and conflict, could be amazingly simple: tear down all the fences. If life were actually safe in a state of freedom, nobody would live behind fences. The only true security anyone can have is based, not on strong defenses, but on knowing that you are secure in the first place, no matter what.

This point was quite clear to the ancient philosophers who set down the meaning of human existence thousands of years ago: they all believed in a state of enlightenment. Enlightenment is the general term for a mind that doesn’t live behind fences of any kind, a mind that is free. What I’m suggesting isn’t a return to Plato or Vasishtha – we must build our own golden age with the tools of present-day reality. Which means, in essence, that we must expand the fence of science. Fences don’t disappear by tearing them down. All kinds of fear and stress leap into the mind when you take away its defenses.  Only by expanding your view of reality can you decide, in due time, that there’s nothing to fear and nothing to defend against. Then the fences disappear as if by magic.

As it stands, science is obviously the most powerful tool in history for gaining objective knowledge. It has erected a fence so wide – and so quickly expanding – that you might believe nothing lies outside the fence. However, science so far has excluded subjective experience. To be allowed inside their fence, any experience of love, beauty, truth, creativity, or anything else that happens subjectively, must be stripped down to the facts and nothing but the facts.  As science expands, it casts light on many areas of ignorance. At the same time, the area that is shut out remains just as vast. Data isn’t the same as human experience, and therefore data cannot explain who we are and why we are here.

Science isn’t going to knock down the fence that separates subjectivity and objectivity.  On a daily basis, gathering facts and data constitutes the working life of every scientist.  Yet as the fence has expanded, the search for knowledge somehow found itself stuck. Every discovery opened up more unknowns, and most of the time the unknowns are so huge that they swamp the discovery that led up to them.

— The Big Bang was a great discovery, but it opened up the overwhelming mystery of dark matter and dark energy.

— DNA was a great discovery, but it opened up the mystery of the epigene, “soft inheritance,” and the confusing dynamics of genetic interaction.

— Mapping the human genome was a great discovery, but it revealed that diseases like cancer involve up to 500 genes and mental disorders like depression may be just as complicated.

— Quantum mechanics was a great discovery, but it dissolved the physical properties of matter and therefore removed the stability of the physical universe.

— General relativity was a great discovery, but black holes revealed that time and space can vanish, while on the other side of the spacetime continuum, there is a void about which no evidence can be gathered.

If you are a hard-core materialist and believe in the reductionist method, you must pin your hopes on future discoveries that will resolve these mysteries. The problem is that in each case, there is a breakdown in the scientific method. Looking over the fence at religion and philosophy, science has had two hundred years to feel secure and victorious.  It has promoted the motto, “If it’s not science, it’s not real.”  Now that smug sense of victory is fraying around the edges, because a fence is still a fence, no matter how wide it gets. Telling philosophy and spirituality that they don’t count was like whistling in the dark. As the physical universe dissolved, as spacetime vanished into the void, as the gene turned out to be fluid and dynamic, the very basis of materialism found its far horizon. At the same time, it hit a brick wall.

If we return to our original scheme that every question is based on an order of meaning, when materialism breaks down, its questions turn meaningless. Just as it is meaningless to ask a scientist if an embryo has a soul, it is equally meaningless to ask if God provides data to prove his existence. What is needed and very urgently, is a way to salvage the meaning of life, because materialism is fast petering out. Not just because there are big issues that cannot be answered by data but also because science has led to disasters like chemical pollution and the atomic bomb.  I don’t want to indulge in science bashing. A kinder way to put it is that the things we really need to know, right this minute – how to live together in peace, how to save the planet, how to lift the well-being of every person on earth – don’t fit inside the fence that science has erected to divide human experience from objective facts.

For this, the final fence, to come down requires an expanded science. We are not going to be saved by a new religion or by philosopher kings.  Science deals in solutions as well as knowledge. It aims to improve the quality of life and to give each of us more freedom.  Yet when the time comes that science actually opposes those advances, intellectual honesty demands that a new way is found, so that knowledge can do what it is supposed to do, advance the human race. In short, science must reinvent itself to take subjectivity into account, bringing reason and light where ignorance and denial has prevailed.

It takes leadership, creativity, openness, and insight to expand science beyond mere data and raw materialism. In place of reductionism there must be wholeness. Shutting out love, beauty, truth, and spiritual experience has to end. I know that countless scientists resist such suggestions, but no one is asking the confirmed atheists, skeptics, secularists, and experimenters to change their colors.  What is being asked instead is the expansion of consciousness.  Consciousness has always been the province of philosophy; higher consciousness has been the province of spirituality. In order to defend its fence, science has excluded consciousness by calling it irrelevant or an illusion. Mostly, however, consciousness has been ignored. “They” – those philosophers and religious people – are interested in it, not “us.”

Freedom, like wholeness, is non-exclusive. The fence builders forgot that reality is reality. There is not a separate reality for science and another for everyone else. Although people don’t talk about it this way, the crisis facing planet Earth is actually a crisis over reality.  In its separate version of reality, science dumps pesticides and genetically engineered seeds on the market, leaving out the dire consequences of these inventions because they aren’t science. Religion fights wars over who worships the right God, ignoring the untold destruction that such divisiveness leads to.  Philosophy, all but extinct, sits and sings to itself in an ivory tower, ignoring that the search for truth must exist in every human heart.

Only science has the prestige and power to change the situation and bring us into a better future.  No other fences are expanding. If the expansion of science, which is unstoppable, can be merged with the expansion of consciousness, there is more than hope for the future. There is a foundation for a golden age. Once we realize that consciousness is the ground state of all experience – after all, even data collection takes place in awareness – we can step on to a higher plane of creativity and intelligence. Higher consciousness is just a term for the next step in human evolution, where we consciously guide our own growth, not by manipulating Nature but by finding our source in consciousness.

We are meant to be co-creators of reality. This is one of the main conclusions of the world’s wisdom traditions. However, as long as human beings seem to stand outside the universe pretending to observe it objectively, outside forces will dominate us.  We will live, as we do now, in a state of separation and division. I realize that this argument sounds abstract. You can’t get clean energy or the cure to AIDS by looking into consciousness – not right away. The inescapable truth is that answers only appear depending on the kind of question you ask. The great quantum pioneer Werner Heisenberg declared that the universe presents a different face depending on how you question it. If you ask for data, the universe is a collection ground for facts. If you ask for consciousness, the universe becomes the source of creativity, intelligence, and evolution.

Pennies From Heaven

They say when an angel misses you, they toss a penny down from heaven. Sadly, not everyone knows how much truth there is in this old adage.

Spirit has many interesting ways to communicate with us, and always on a very personal level. Your spiritual signs and signals can range from the truly spectacular to the very mundane. And sometimes they can be found in the most unusual places, or when they are least expected. Two of the most commonly sighted phenomena are coins or ‘pennies’, as well as feathers. Depending on your personal belief system, these items are left around for us by loved ones, angels, or animal and spirit guides.

No matter where you believe your signs may be coming from, they are most certainly meant especially for you, and they always have a sincere and personal meaning, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant they may appear to be.

So, don’t pass by that penny, When you’re feeling blue. It may be a penny from heaven, that an Angel’s tossed to you – Charles Marshburn

Of course, many skeptics doubt that these phenomena exist, and it is often discounted as mere superstition or urban myth. I have, however, had several powerful personal experiences of such signs over the years, and I also hear frequent reports from friends and clients who experience the same thing. Spirit has indeed taught me some very valuable lessons through different signs and signals, and these personal, first-hand experiences contradict the most one-dimensional or misguided opinion of any skeptic.

A dear friend and client recently received very compelling confirmation of the signs she had been questioning for years.* She is currently in the midst of a major life transition and a personal transformation. For quite some time now we have been discussing the signs she has been receiving in the form of popular songs. She keeps hearing them: over the radio, in the gym and in the shopping mall. Once she even heard it on the phone, after she was placed on hold by a call centre. The signs keep coming consistently; every time she asks for them, she receives them. But the doubt secretly creeps back into her mind soon after. What if it was just her imagination?

Two days ago she messaged me, wanting to know if the latest incident was another sign. There is a specific song she has always associated with a certain special person in her life, for a very particular reason. She had now heard this song on three separate occasions at very significant moments. Each time it happened she was either with this person, or she was specifically thinking of him, or she was asking for a sign about him.

When suffering comes, we yearn for some sign from God, forgetting we have just had one – Mignon McLaughlin

I explained to her that we sometimes receive the same signs more than once, in order to overcome our doubt or fear. In her case she was getting her signs in three’s. But I also knew that she had to see proof of this for herself, before she would feel truly content. I therefore suggested she ask for a confirmation of the fact that important signs come to her in three’s.

The answer came sooner than anticipated. She was in a public place when she received my response. She did not even have to ask for confirmation. The minute she opened my text message on her cellphone, even before she had finished reading all of it, she discovered three pennies on a seat she was about to sit down on.

She immediately sent me the news and I then assured her that pennies are a well-known sign for many people all over the world. I also urged her to keep the pennies in a safe place and have another look at them later, because sometimes the dates or other engravings on them also have special meanings.

The next day I received a follow-up: “Thanks Anthon! You wouldn’t believe this, but later yesterday I saw three feathers. Well, actually four, I saw one at first and did a double take – but dismissed it, then an hour or so later saw a cluster of three feathers together on the floor.”

The angels are so enamored of the language that is spoken in heaven that they will not distort their lips with the hissing and unmusical dialects of men, but speak their own, whether there be any who understand it or not – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Messages from the spiritual realm are potentially life-changing, but they so often pass us by, unnoticed, mostly because of our lack of awareness. In fact, some of us are so stubborn or oblivious to our metaphysical reality that we first have to receive a pebble, then a rock and finally a ton of bricks, before we eventually sit up and pay attention! First there is a message, then a lesson and finally comes the crisis.

If you have never experienced the wonder of witnessing the effect of such miraculous signs and signals in your life, I highly recommend that you consider giving it a shot. What do you stand to lose? All you need to do is heighten your awareness and increase your consciousness. Don’t allow yourself to let your mystical reminders and spiritual signposts pass you by forever.

Signs and signals from the spiritual realm always have a purpose. Most often they are important guideposts or ‘traffic signs’ along our life path, confirming our choices, decisions and actions. Sometimes we receive these messages to console us in times of distress or sadness, while at other times they come as warnings, urging us to proceed with caution.

Reading your special signs and signals is your divine right, and a basic skill that anyone can develop. Some gurus would have you believe that this is a complex art or science, or that it requires special psychic abilities or years of study and practice. The truth is that this is a blessing freely available to all of us, regardless of whom we are or what we believe in. All you need to do is ask, and it will be given.

The whole visible universe is but a storehouse of images and signs to which the imagination will give a relative place and value; it is a sort of pasture which the imagination must digest and transform – Charles Baudelaire

The best way to start reading signs is by simply becoming more aware. Take more notice of the small wonders that happen in the world around you every day. Look out for patterns and synchronicities, because there are no ‘coincidences’ in life. Everything happens for a reason; there are no windfalls, only godsends.

Soon you will begin to discover your unique set of personal symbols and patterns. Your special signs could come in the form of dreams, colors, words, numbers, sounds, songs, computer messages, clouds, images, animals, people, places or specific objects, like coins and feathers. They could also come in a certain order or they may be repeated a certain number of times. The list of possibilities and combinations is truly endless. It is also very different for each individual, depending on your belief system, as well as your cultural background and your unique personality and interests.

Always keep your expectations simple and don’t expect weird riddles or complex messages. The message is always very clear and direct. The intention is after all to communicate and guide, not to confuse, frighten or mislead you. Also, use some common sense. If you never listen to the radio, you certainly cannot expect it to become a conduit for spiritual communication. Your signs will show up in accessible ways that complement your lifestyle, or match your personal outlook. All you need to do is become more aware and be open to the process.

Look after the pennies, and the pounds will take care of themselves – English Proverb

Finally, we need to be thankful for every sign or message we receive. Express your gratitude by being kind to yourself and others, and show your appreciation by caring for all living creatures, as well as our magnificent planet. Count each and every blessing.

The Universe is an abundant and interactive place of wonder and magic; it is ready and waiting to respond to your needs. You can heal your life and make all your wishes come true. Spirit wants the opportunity to guide you and protect you on your journey through life.

Acknowledge your higher self and learn to trust your intuition. You have inside of you a deep well of wisdom and you are connected to everything in the Universe. You are part of an infinite and ever-expanding grid of spiritual consciousness.

Use your signs and godsends to re-design your life and create the destiny you truly want; learn to apply your divine ‘early warning system’ to avoid unnecessary obstacles and setbacks along the way. All you need to do is ask. Reclaim what is rightfully yours.

Ol’ Boogeyman Still Comin’ To Getcha?

BoogeymanIn my line of work there is often an unhealthy obsession with the concept of evil. It appears we are simply not able to rid ourselves of this ‘thing’ we seem to have for the boogeyman (here in my country known as the tokoloshe).

Just the other day I was listening to a radio psychic scaring the living daylights out of his unsuspecting caller. She just wanted some career advice, but instead he was hell-bent on convincing her that her home was infested with evil entities. His charming co-host also jumped in to offer some old-wives’ cures for getting rid of all the demonic forces. Truth be told, the only disturbance I was picking up on was the fact that the poor, freaked out woman would not be getting much sleep for weeks!

Now, don’t get me wrong. The struggle between good and evil is very, very real. It is a fundamental component of the human condition. It is also the basis of all Creation. It stems from the duality found in every important aspect of our expanding Universe: dark versus light, life versus death, night versus day. Light needs the presence of darkness to be truly visible and meaningful.

A belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary; men alone are quite capable of every wickedness –  Joseph Conrad

The co-existence of good and evil is also the basis for an inner conflict that each of us have to resolve in this lifetime. It is part of the reason why we are here. Both good and evil therefore do serve a purpose in the greater scheme of things. No doubt about that. But blaming the spiritual realm for the darkness of men is my idea of heresy and blasphemy.

Our morbid fascination with all things dark is as old as the hills, but it is still very much de rigueur. Just the fact that psychics and mediums are today still being accused of doing the devil’s work is sufficient proof in itself. In many religious circles ‘fire and brimstone’ remains the height of fashion. Not to mention the latest 2012 doomsday prophecies, conspiracy theories and apocalyptic visions of evil forces, undercover aliens and secret societies; all hype eagerly spread by fear-mongers, spin doctors and social entrepreneurs.

But those are the most obvious kinds of evil mania. What truly amazes me about our obsession with all things evil is that it is not something you only find in traditional churches or conservative circles. No, some truly gifted, spiritually aware and highly intuitive people, with whom I share many beliefs and blessings, are also fanatic about finding evil spirits, curses and dark entities under their beds, inside their closets …and deep-down in the purses and wallets of their clients.

The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance – Socrates

Yesterday a wonderful client called me, devastated and in tears. She had been persuaded by a well-meaning friend to “try out” another psychic she knows of… just for fun. The self-proclaimed ’spiritual advisor’ had a field day predicting doom and gloom for her current relationship and warned her that another woman was doing magick to steal her man away. She also offered to do spell work for her to fix the problem, to the tune of $400! Meanwhile my client’s love life is perfectly on track and they are in fact a very happy couple. How dare someone mess with the lives of others out of sheer greed? It truly disgusts me. May God have mercy on her soul.

It is deeply disappointing that many who share in the collective consciousness appear to be obsessing about evil entities and dark forces all of the time. In fact, they are so busy doing this that they hardly have any time or energy left to be co-creators in our spiritual evolution. They seem to miss the point that evil is about regression, destruction and reversing into the past. Evil is the antithesis of creation and expansion, and they seem to forget that what they focus on, sadly, does become their reality.

The good versus evil ‘battle’ has been waged one way or another since the dawn of civilization. It is an ancient archetype that is one of the most recognizable themes in literature and the arts. Let’s face it; ‘good guys versus bad guys’ is the stuff that bestsellers and box office hits are made of.

Eternal good is eternal becoming or eternally moving forward to greater life. Eternal evil is to cease becoming and “to be” that which was in the past – JJ Dewey

I guess it therefore comes as no surprise that some spiritual seekers are forever obsessing about the evil they fear may be creeping up on them. One only has to tune in to a few podcasts, or watch the latest online videos, to witness the spiritual community’s fixation on everything evil. Indeed, fundamentalism is not only found among the religious and the dogmatic. Some of the ‘spiritually enlightened’ and ‘intuitively evolved’ seem to insist on clinging to medieval concepts and out-dated superstitions.

Instead of being fully devoted to unconditional love, kindness, generosity, selflessness and the greater good, much energy, time and money is being spent every day fighting evil entities and keeping the ‘darkness’ and its ‘extremely powerful forces’ at bay. Potions, spells and candles are actually the very products that keep scam psychics and fake mediums in business. All this while the true battle of Armageddon is being fought right here under our noses, in the streets in front of our houses.

There is no dominating source of evil, because if there was, we would not exist, nature would not exist and neither would the Universe. It is counter-productive to assign so much influence and power to something that is in fact just vast emptiness, non-entity and anti-matter.

To rid ourselves of our shadows – who we are – we must step into either total light or total darkness. Goodness and evil – Jeremy P. Johnson

I have often said, and will say it again, if you want to know true evil just switch on the evening news. If you are curious to see the real face of Satan, you will find him lurking on the cover of celebrity magazines, in newspapers and on political campaign posters. The battle between good and evil is not being fought in the spiritual realm. Spirit knows no anger, envy, fear, violence or hatred. The real war is happening in mundane places, like the television set in your parlor or at your child’s school.

If you want to find demons, shadow people or anti-Christs, look for them in our educational institutions, communities, churches and governments. If you truly want to find evil incarnate, seek it among the school bullies in our midst, those who drive their peers to suicide or post vile online jokes about their deaths.

Stop hunting ghosts, witches, psychic vampires and energy thieves, and rather expose the narcissists among us who dominate, dictate and destroy so many relationships, families, careers and lives – devoid of empathy and compassion. Search also the boardrooms, public offices and parliaments. There you will find among our leaders and kings many ego-maniacs who abuse their power, corrupt their economy and violate the basic human rights of their people, while they wage senseless wars on their critics and each other.

It is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways – Buddha

Evil, darkness, threat and fear are not spiritual forces… they are the evil creations of man. JJ Dewey writes that “all forces, powers, and energies are neither good nor evil in themselves. They are completely neutral, but only become good or evil when they are intelligently directed.” He also states that “all energies and creations vibrating in their pure state are good.” And that is the whole point. Focusing so much of our thoughts, feelings and intentions on evil, instead of that which is good, is counter-productive and contrary to our Divine Purpose. We are here to serve each other and grow, expand and become, not to cast an exaggerated, ominous shadow over all that is potentially good in the world.

The spiritual realm is much like the natural world. It is in essence breathtakingly perfect, completely harmonious and utterly flawless. I have yet to meet an evil animal or discover a satanic plant. The only evil I have ever witnessed among plants and animals are the scars left on them by the inhumane, dark deeds of men. It is certainly not the devil who is trashing the environment, abusing the animal kingdom or trampling the hearts of loving women and breaking the spirits of brave men.

The Divine Light that you and I come from, and will return to one day, knows no evil and does not recognize the power of these shadows that some so willingly fear and follow. Believing in the supremacy of evil entities and dark beings implies that we all come from a spiritual place of imperfection. It suggests that the Divine Source is somehow diseased, that Creation is riddled with flaws and falsehoods that dwell among us. And, worst of all, that we are so far superior in our human state that we alone are capable of fixing this broken, dysfunctional or chaotic spiritual mess.

The reason our definition of good and evil changes over the ages is because our capacity to understand and experience freedom changes – JJ Dewey

I realize that for some it must be fun to indulge in this paranormal soap opera, but most of us simply don’t have the time, or the inclination. We know we have much work to do, gifts to offer, blessings to share. We are the Wounded Healers, the Empaths, the Shamans, the Indigo Children, the Starseeds, and the Lightworkers. We speak to the Angels, listen to our Spirit Guides and trust in the guidance of our Ancestors, Ascended Masters and Loved Ones. We fight true evil by saving the planet and healing humanity, by drying one tear at a time.

We have no need for spells, talismans or obsessive-compulsive psychic defenses, for we are surrounded by the everlasting and indestructible shields of Love, Peace and Harmony. The phenomenal power of our Spiritual Heritage surges through our being every moment of every day. We are illuminated by the Divine; there is much Light around us.

The spiritual evolution of mankind is our ultimate aim, our Divine duty. As we continue to expand the Universe, this dazzling, bright Light we carry will continue to emanate from us with much Glory. And we know that there shall come a time when there will be no more evil among men. And we shall know that all is Good.

* Dedicated to my friend ‘Ms C’. Thank you for allowing me to share your story with the world.

Ol’ Boogeyman Still Comin’ To Getcha?

In my line of work there is often an unhealthy obsession with the concept of evil.
