Featured Intent: Healed from the Past

screen-shot-2016-12-05-at-9-30-53-pm

Over and over we’ve found ourselves in the same place. Maybe that place is one of positivity and abundance. We’re surrounded by wise and kind people who lift us up and support us. Perhaps it’s the opposite. We continue to find ourselves in the same mess. We’re repeating patterns that have existed longer than we can remember and the hard part is imagining a life where they aren’t a part of us.

Are some of us just lucky? And does it mean there is no hope if we’re one of the unfortunate folks who pulled the short straw of struggle?

We believe that with focus, intent and genuine desire, a pattern is something that can be overcome if it is destructive. We believe that sometimes, before you can move forward, you have to deal with the past accurately and honestly. This can mean seeking or offering forgiveness. This can mean shining a light on dark corners we had long accepted as forgotten. This can mean voicing feelings and truth we didn’t even know existed.

But we’re ready for a different future so today our intent is to be healed from the past.

Featured Intent: Yes to Your Full Potential

screen-shot-2016-12-04-at-8-01-06-pm

Everyday we see original intents from our community that are encouraging and inspiring. They have hopes for seeing new jobs, new opportunities and new chapters in their stories. This week we are sharing some of our favorites, like this one. It’s one thing to have potential. It’s another to say yes to it. Are you ignoring your potential? Have you recognized that it’s waiting on your doorstep? Maybe potential is intimidating! That’s all normal and understandable, but we want to stop running from what might be waiting. Today we’re saying yes to our full potential!

Take A Breather

fullsizerender

We’re halfway through holiday season and everything seems to be moving lightning fast. Is it possible to keep up? We’re going to suggest that maybe, in the midst of madness, we find a way to slow down. Slow down to remember where you are, what you’re doing and what matter. Slow down to re-evaluate. Slow down to appreciate. If no one invites you to take a breather, it doesn’t mean you can’t make it mandatory for yourself.

Our intent of the day is to take a breather.

Intent of the Day: Settle with Gratitude

fullsizerender

Feeling anxious? It’s no surprise. According to Anxiety and Depression Association of America, 40 million adults in the US suffer from anxiety disorders, making it the most common mental illness. The likelihood that you or someone you know is battling with some form of it, especially as the holidays approach, is tremendous. If it is part of your life, perhaps the holidays have become a mixed blessing of happy memories and a struggle to keep your feelings at bay. Knowing that so much can contribute to anxiety, we want to start by developing a practice of combating it with the simple and beautiful act of gratitude.

Intent of the Day: Healing Words

fullsizerender-1

Healing comes in many forms. In medication. In nature. With time and space. Today we explore the healing that comes from the words we receive and speak. As a culture, we’ve come to understand that words can harm. Telling a child that they’ll never grow up to be anything can have lasting implications and we can understand that correlation. But we don’t alway think about using our words with intention for positivity and healing. We don’t always consider how much we say that has no real nutritional value.

“I guess we’ll see…”
“I don’t know…”
“Who knows?…”

We absolve ourselves from taking a position of strength and health and wholeness. So, today, we choose to use our words with intention for healing.

Right there with us? Here are 3 resources to help: Continue reading

Intent of the Day: Accept What You Can Do

fullsizerender-1

Our intent today is inspired by the many times we’ve ended the day feeling dissatisfied, unproductive and not enough. What do you do when you feel like you don’t measure up? Our intent is to instead accept what we CAN do. Maybe it was one huge task, a bunch of small tasks or that you just got out of bed today. Accept the progress you’ve made. Celebrate the ways you showed up today and the strength you gained since the day before. Today is the building block for tomorrow!

Intent of the Day: What Does Peace Feel Like?

fullsizerender-1

We are familiar with the feelings of stress and anxiety.
We recognize the pounding heart, the tension in your forehead, the narrowed scope when it comes to listening and even seeing what’s going on around you.

As negative as those things can be, it can be easy to fall into what is familiar and culture can tell us that being stressed is standard. If stress is familiar, we can end up there over and over again. We can forget that it isn’t a healthy place to stay.

Do you know what peace feels like? It can feel more foreign than we realize because peace will require you to intentionally slow down to experience it, and the world is not always supportive of slowing down.

What does peace feel like? Does it feel like a lowered heartbeat? Does it feel like an unclouded mind? Does it feel like the weight has been removed from your shoulders?

What does peace sound like? Look like? Smell like?

If we don’t make space to experience peace, are we ever going to be in a mindset where we can make clear decisions, feel the fullness of now or really see people?

Not sure if you know what peace feels like? Here are some resources that might help: Continue reading

The Mood in the Music… How Your Spiritual Intent is Affected

headphone

It’s a nice day outside… the sun is bright, a few billowy clouds in the sky, a slightly warm but yet refreshing breeze caresses you, birds are singing, not a lot of extraneous noise… in short, a perfectly beautiful day is before you as you step into your patio to enjoy the morning’s moment and sip that first and best cup of coffee. Ahhh, it’s great to be alive and to be able to have this brief but important time to reflect spiritually and to cleanse your mind.

Then it starts. Not real close or real loud, but it’s enough to break the solitude you were basking in and to distract you from what God had just so perfectly served up. You don’t recognize the song or the artist… nor do you really care right then… but it’s raucous and harsh music and it just ruins everything! You pick yourself up out of your ever so comfortable cushioned patio chair and go in the house… firmly closing the French door behind you to shut out the sound… and go back to the kitchen for more coffee, a little disgruntled.

That ever happen to you?

I think it’s happened to many of us… it certainly has happened to me… and more than once I might add! One could say that’s the price we pay for living close by other folks, in the city or suburbs, where we have stacked ourselves either vertically or sideways next to or on top of each other. So close you can sometimes hear the neighbor sneeze… right? (I’m speaking from personal experience here…). Why does that seem to happen so often, that “the mood” was shattered usually by some noise… sometimes loud music… that is discordant to that moment, that perfect setting? You may have had a little Mozart spinning on the CD player helping you relax, to ponder the upcoming day… or not. Doesn’t matter. That moment’s light mood is gone forever, replaced by a somewhat darker mood. You’ll get over it for sure but you won’t forget it. And the reason you won’t forget it is because moods in life are somewhat like negative and positive numbers in mathematics… with some emotion thrown in for good measure. It’s a fascinating study in the physics of life.

Connecting oneself to the pluses and minuses of life starts out as an automatic function of daily routine. You awake, you arise… you go through your little ritual to get yourself ready to meet the day… and the one thing you present to the world every day is your mood. How that mood comes to be is a combination of often complex circumstances and conditions, some of which you have no control over. Others you DO control: Continue reading

Five Ways to Fine-Tune Your Intention

sit

By Barry Goldstein

Most of us know the basics of creating an intention, but how can you make it even more powerful?  Make it a multisensory experience!  Creating an intention is not just creating an attraction pattern. It is about truly aligning with every aspect of the intention and actually becoming the energy of the intention. The more specific you can be, the more emotion it evokes and the more your intention can be sparked into action. It’s all about becoming the vibration of what you are seeking.  Become the harmonious song that is serenading the universe and the universe will collaborate with you in your manifestation! Here are five ways to fine tune manifesting your intention: Continue reading

Vapor: A Meditation from the Liturgists

Screen Shot 2016-03-11 at 11.26.07 AM

“Look again at that dot.  That’s here.  That’s home.  That’s us.  On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives.  The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every ‘superstar,’ every ‘supreme leader,’ every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there – on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.”

Carl Sagan (about the Earth)

A few weeks ago, we shared some amazing podcasts you should be listening to.
One of those podcasts was the Liturgists which is a collective of creators who speak on everything from God to art to the world, theories, beliefs, everything in between.

One of our favorite parts of the podcast is their meditations.

Today we share VAPOR. Continue reading
