Ted Kennedy: The Dream Shall Never Die

Although 77-year-old Ted Kennedy has lost his heroic battle with brain cancer, his words still ring around the nation and perhaps around the world: “For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.”

A family statement referenced "the inspiration of his faith," which Ted Kennedy displayed in numerous ways throughout his personal and professional life. He consistently urged people to act with compassion, not just to talk about compassion. He described the United States as a family, and felt that each member of our national family has a responsibility to help other members in need. He also noted that our Founding Fathers established laws to protect all members of the American family, even when we strongly disagree with each other.

"I hope for an America where the power of faith will always burn brightly, but where no modern inquisition of any kind will ever light the fires of fear, coercion, or angry division." – Ted Kennedy, quoted in the LA Times

May Ted Kennedy, the Lion of the Senate, rest in peace after a distinguished life of service to the United States. His life was guided by a clear vision of peace, faith, and compassion, and that dream shall never die.
