Dearest Cheryl Lynne and Donald,
Well, I’m still looking for that window when I can really take the time to thank you properly for the marvelous workshop — but I just can’t wait anymore, so improper thanks will have to do.
For me there was great joy in simply being your student again, and in the magic of your presence, your instruction, and the day. I was also tremendously grateful for the opportunity to honor you, my beloved teachers, by presenting Roy to you not as my honey or as a one-time participant in a special event, but as your proud, new student. His joy in the workshop and the practice was palpable — you catapaulted his physical, emotional, mental and spiritual understanding of the Primordial and of Qi to an entirely different level! (Ah, but there’s nothing like learning from a true Master and receiving a genuine transmission to transform a person, is there?) ;)
That paragraph above is completely inadequate to express the wonderful things that happened to us that day and since — but right now I have to rush off to do a ton of schoolwork for tomorrow morning (arrgh), so I hope you can read our heartfelt thanks between the lines. Before I go, though, I want to share something interesting that happened this evening.
Roy and I were returning home from dinner (yummy Thai food – celebrating my sister’s 58th birthday last Tuesday). I turned on the radio. Someone was in the midst of interviewing a traditional South African healer who had been guided in his work by spirits and ancestors who visited in his dreams. What struck me in the moment was that the instant the radio came on, a deep, beautiful, musical voice said, "To be a true healer, one must bear a deep wound."
Immediately, I saw my Sifu Rubbo in my mind’s eye — and immediately the connection between the extraordinary hardships he once endured alone and the extraordinary healing powers he now shares with us all sang within my heart in perfect harmony.
Happy Equinox (this Tuesday — we’ll invoke you to our special Primordial set and start the day right!) and Blessed Be,
–risa
