UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Gotham and Deepak on O’Reilly Factor Tonight (12/9)

I wanted to let our community know that my brother (Gotham Chopra) and my father (Deepak Chopra) will both be on The O’Reilly Factor tonight on Fox News.

The show will address much of the discussion we have had here on Intent – and other sites – about the Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Here is are some links to the popular stories of the past two weeks.

For us Non-Americans, not big TV watchers, not big Fox watchers…what time is that show on? Or have I already missed it?

  2. munay December 9, 2008 at 7:58 pm #

Looks like O'Reilly Factor's on at 11pm Eastern. I've set it to tivo. That is probably the second showing. I think the original was at 8pm.

Thanks, Mallika. I appreciate the heads up.

Thanks Barbara for the time for me or others in neighbouring Caribbean islands or Caracas that would be 12 PM then.

    Great job Gotham and Deepak!

    Thanks Mallika.

I don't have access to these channels, all the same, I would be keenly interested. I am sure, Deepak and Gotham are very capable to put matters in the right perspective and clear the air.

I consider this show to be of considerable importance, in view of the seriousness of the subject and the opposing stand points.

I have read the posts of Deepak, Gotham, yourself and WJ's.

My prayers are with Deepak and Gotham, they must come out as the clear winner. Their convinceing win is OUR win, the out come will effect millions of minds.

Best wishes to Deepak, Gotham and PEACE !!

    Love,

    V C

    NB.

For the members who don't have access to this show, if possible, pl give a detailed transscript of the Q & A.

Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds… Albert Einstien

I just watched it. They were terrific, very centered and I believe they made their points well.

O'Reilly's attempt to patronize them only made him look small.

It's interesting to see sense and sanity creep back into mass media!

    Yes we can!

    Namaste

Any good thing "including non-violence" carried to the extreme loses its ultimate desired effect especially when the public may be mislead deliberately or inadvertently by not being provided with the opportunity to see the whole picture. Deepak's initial response to the WSJ and Dorothy Rabinwitz's article was truly not sufficient.

Gotham had apparently taken upon himself to explain in greater detail Dorothy's greatest injustice as a journalist – misleading the public about Deepak and a misleading WSJ headline.

I was delighted to see that Deepak himself decided to provide "A fuller and more personal response to DR's attack" on him.

I hope he will as well stand up to O'Reilly with all the intellect and spiritual power that I know he possesses. The likes of Bill O'Reilly should not be able to leave a positive impression of themselves in encounters such as this.

I will not be able to see tonight's program but as VC has commented, "For the members who don't have access to this show, if possible, please give a detailed transcript of the Q & A."

I saw it last night turned on the TV late if the show started on the hr means I missed first few mins…they were on for like 10mins? I dont watch shows like The O Reilly Factor normally…so my impression comes across that the show is really bout that O Reilly man above and beyond anything else…very self centered …I guess I dont understand some extreme American journalistic styles enough to appreciate the show fully….it is like everything is rushed and they want you to talk yea but not really…cause even in the little time you do have the host has to say so much too! In the brief bit I did see I think one thing was achieved that is Deepak established and got a resounding agreement from the host that he is not anti american and that he is living the american dream having arrived there with one dollar in his pocket!

Thanks Mallika for the heads up.

I watched the interview and thought it was lively, informative and fun to watch. O'Reilly disagreed with some of Deepak's viewpoints, but I thought O'Reilly remained respectful – pointing out that Deepak is not anti-American.

The questions were tough and especially under the limited time-constraints of the segment, I thought Deepak and Gotham gave detailed, practical and well-informed answers.

I also think it is fun to watch intelligent people with contrasting personalities and political views discuss such important issues.

    Dear Malika,

Time pressure made it hard to touch some issues but… there was a media space with a huge number of audience that caught what deep inside Deepak, Gotam and you wanted to point out.

Deepak really got O'Reilly's attention in the Anti-american issue. O'Railly gave him, his full support and clearly the message was there: Deepak Chopra is not an Anti-american.

It is a gift to see and witness, that it just takes willingness and a clear intention to accomplish something. This is wonderful.

Than you again, for sharing this with us Malika

The best part: Gotham credited "contributor to intent.com"!

The worst part: Bill O'Reilly calling Deepak "naive" – how arrogant and rude! Deepak handled himself so well, even though O'Reilly interrupted him constantly. Gotham – you're a rock star!

  14. LatinDragon December 12, 2008 at 1:55 am #

O'Reilly says Deepak is naive I would think it be becouse he don't comprehend his his words or intentions, Naive becouse he's sees life in a diferent perspective than O'Reilly so his solutions comes from that perspective for which O'Reilly cannot comprehend even if he wanted to, because O'Reilly is a very intellectual man but has very little wisdom if not at all.So in retrospect I believe O'Reily is naive or to better put it, does not has wisdom, light, understanding of life itself.

  15. ruanz3 December 17, 2008 at 9:49 am #

I think Deepak is a hero, i mean to speak his mind in a country like America where so many people will hate him for his insight is just admirable. In America materialism still rules over wisdom i think and there is a profound lack of undestanding of the true meaning of life. Deepak handled himself extremely well, you could see the fact that O'Reilly called him naive didnt bother him in the least. Deepak is so certain of what he knows that no one would convince him otherwise. I think O'Reilly has some nerve to call Deepak naive and in a sense it makes me mad. But then again he is just responding from his own level of awareness and the culture he grew up in. Right wing America probably does as much damage to this world at terrorists. Mallika you have the coolest dad as im sure you know, he has inspired me in my life so much, i wish i could some day thank him in person.

Mallika, thanks for posting the video. The only news shows I watch are Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow.

Deepak and Gotham are an inspiration. There they were in the lion's den, but discovered they where actually in a house of monkeys as Bill O chattered and flitted from one defeat to another as when he said lets forget about the Iraq war that was a mistake….and what if Gotham were to be killed by terrorists not knowing your dad's past…..and many other mindless pseudo intellectual regurgitations and pompousity.

He cracks me up! And to think my dad watches him religiously. I can't stop laughing.

Oh well, your dad and brother are the real thing. I hope they had a good laugh about it.

AM I putting Bill O down? No just the man he seems to be not the essence. I can crack me up sometimes, alot of times too.

I wrote this about Bill along time ago:

There once was a man named O'Reilly

Who thought of himself oh so highly

With artful aggression he gained some attention

    And also a new name O' Lie..ly
